skyking1 Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 What do you recommend for a Mooney eagle to replace vacuum with electric standby att indicator and standby alternator? I have an aspen pro now. Thanks Quote
LANCECASPER Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Your Aspen STC will determine that Quote
elimansour Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 I used a GI275 as a backup to the Aspen Pro Max and got rid of the vacuum system. It is approved for use as a backup. 1 Quote
Pinecone Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 The plane I just bought has an Aspen Pro PFD and a Garmin G5 backup. No vacuum instruments. I assume it still has a vacuum system for the speed brakes. I am trying to figure out if there is any need to keep the rest of the rounds gauges. 1 Quote

Pinecone Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 Yeah, I was wondering if I wanted to add an MFD, whether I could use a 500 and still get rid of the round gauges with the G5 as backup. Quote

Great unit. Not sure how they ever got that past the FAA. Based on their recent track record there's not a chance in the world I would not have a backup. https://www.beechtalk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=210156 Quote
Pinecone Posted August 2, 2022 Report Posted August 2, 2022 From the linked press release: " A turn and bank indicator along with airspeed and altimeter must be retained as the three required backups." So not getting rid of all backups. And:
To be eligible for removal of the backup attitude indicator, the EFD1000 Pro MAX PFD with the extended duration battery must be installed with the following instruments: Magnetic compass Altimeter Airspeed indicator Electric turn and bank indicator FAA Advisory Circular permits an electric attitude indicator may be a substitute for the turn and bank indicator if it has its own battery source Graphical IFR GPS (with moving map)
1 Quote
