M20F Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 I spent a year using the Mooney as a replacement for AA on the Midwest/East Coast for a lot of hours. It added a lot of flexibility, allowed for unusual routings, and sometimes speed. I learned a lot coming from the Midwest (direct everywhere) to the NE corridor where things are a bit more complicated. Flew a lot of interesting weather. Only had one AOG which thanks to timing was a non-event. I also round tripped between KDPA and 47N or somewhere almost every weekend. In the end I went back to AA. Working 12hrs and jumping in the plane got tiring and probably at times wasn’t the best safety choice. As an Executive owner I like a good T&T with a twist at the end of the day. AA thankfully is once again providing these. I still use the plane here and there for work but when you mix passion with work, it tends to be less passion and more work. Quote

If, when you say "fully loaded" you mean at or near gross, it will probably take a little longer to be certain. One thing I have seen is to weigh passenger with luggage in hand. This "total weight" is sometimes easier on the women, because they don't have to reveal their exact weight. 2 Quote
carusoam Posted July 15, 2022 Report Posted July 15, 2022 Note for Dom… 1) pick your favorite WnB app… I use WnB the app… 2) Save every combination of loading people in your plane… I had two or three loadings that repeated often… 1) Solo 2) 2 up 3) 4 up Even if it’s a fresh combination it only takes a minute… As for weighing people ask their combined weights… husband and wife… they are both going to be at the same station… Crank through the calculations in seconds… It will also calculate WnB over the flight as fuel burns off… Then do the T/O calculations…. Minutes. Best regards, -a- Quote
1964-M20E Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 generally if you can make it in 3 to 4 hours with the Mooney you can beat the airlines or be awfully close. Non stop airline flights are generally hard to be time wise. This is being close to a medium to large international airport. If you are flying out of a regional airport beating the airlines is easier. Quote
