FloridaMan Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 Rocket was down for annual for a couple months and took about 20 gallons more than the totalizer indicated that I needed to fill up. I topped it off fully. A couple weeks later, I noticed the right tank was down a bit, so I topped it off again, to the rim on both tanks until the inboard started overflowing. It took 5 gallons. Landed. Verified full fuel. This was Friday. Now the right outboard tank is down again. There are no signs of dye anywhere outside of the airplane. Where could my fuel be going? Quote
Hank Posted May 8, 2020 Report Posted May 8, 2020 Take an inspection panel off the bottom of the wing, inboard on the flap side. Sneak in a small camera and look for blue stains. Or underneath the little piece of trim below where the wing and fuselage meet on the front side, where the fuel line enters the fuse. Or behind the lower righthand inside trim pieces. Do you smell fuel when you first open the door? Is the door closed while you are gone? If you leave the door open, the fuel smell will be much less than if the door is fully closed. it's a good clue to look for leakage behind the inside panels, whether your carpet is stained also or not.
