Gear warning Light problem

Recommended Posts

I have a 1975 M-20F and have light problems.  The warning light stays on except when gear is up.  Actually the gear warning and gear down lights work at the same time.  Both go on and off at the same time Anyone have an Idea.  I cant find a wiring diagram for my Aircraft.  The one I have is for a 1974.  John

The problem probably lies in your up limit switch. Each switch is a double pole, normally open and normally closed. It sounds like the normally open position is failed as that's the one that drives the light. IIRC

I wish mine did that- it’s annoying to fly around with a red light on the panel! I have wondered whether Mooney changed this feature in the later year models...

Good news... they changed it before your plane was built...

Find the light... twist the lens clockwise...

The big ugly light is big and ugly for a reason...

It is hiding a mechanical iris in there...

Twisting it opens and closes the iris...

Give it a try...

Just make sure you don’t close the green one completely... :)

If airplane manufacturers wrote POHs back in the day... they would have covered how all the controls work...

PP thoughts as usual...

Best regards,

Yes, I know about the iris:)....but I am always hesitant to close it for fear of forgetting to open it back up!
