Hello!

First time on you forum and so far it just looks great.

We own a Mooney M20J and we are based in Montréal, Canada.  We do have some minor issue with our KFC 200 Auto-pilot and there is not a lot of support in our area so we are looking to have our auto pilot fix in USA.  SO i you know a place that has excellent knowledge with KFC200 close to Montréal (North east of USA) that would help us.  I do have picture and detail of the problem so if one of you wants to give us a hand to understand, please feel free.....

THis picture shows the plane with the autopilot engaged on a straight level flight.  You can see the vertical gyro is way out and the HSI bug is out of the heading.  More the gyro is out and more the heading bug will be out of the air plane heading.  I can fly hours like that and the only problem is that I have to correct the heading continuously.  This problem can come on and off 2-3 times during a flight and it is king of weard when I am in full IMC (I do have a second Vertical Gyro that is working good)

Sorry for the second one but I can't find how to turn it 90D......

THanks

Alex, this could either be a KI-256 problem (as your electric AI and TC are working normally) or a vacuum pump issue.  I'd bet on a KI-256 problem first, but would want to know what your suction indicator is reading.

If you need to engage someone, Griffin Avionics in Hyannis, MA (KHYA) is one of the best AP shops in the country, or a little further south, Islip Avionics (KISP) here on Long Island.  Islip did my panel last year and did a magnificent job.  Griffin is also top-notch and although a full-service shop, their notoriety comes primarily from autopilot work.  Again, both shops are excellent.

Islip:  (site under construction)  http://islipavionics.com/

Let me know if I can help no matter what you decide.

Hi Alex - welcome aboard!

i have used the avionics shop at heretage at Burlington Vermont airport - kbtv which you see is very close to you. (As am I - look up kptd!). They have had no problem identifying and servicing my various avionics issues and repairs including for my kfc200.

For all things BK autopilot related...

Search for the name autopilots Central around here.

Using the search function to find KFC200 may be of help as well...

Best regards,
