MooneyMitch Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I saw this information on my GA News eLetter this morning. Maybe of interest to some who are contemplating this. Power Flow Systems, manufacturer of high performance tuned exhaust systems, has set-up a progressive rebate program for 180-hp and 200-hp Mooney aircraft owners. The amount of the discount depends on the number of Mooney owners who purchase a tuned exhaust. The program runs through the end of EAA AirVenture or July 31. Each Mooney owner that orders will receive an initial discount of $500. For every five Mooney orders, Power Flow will provide an additional rebate of $100. The program peaks out at 25 when the rebate has reached $500, providing a maximum discount of $1,000. Rebate checks will be mailed within 90 days after the program ends. Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 If they could ramp that discount up to ~$2500 I'd be tempted. I can't believe they want (or get) $4700 for a system. Even with the max rebate $3700 is a lot of money...especially with dubious benefits on the fuel injected engines. Quote
scottfromiowa Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 The price WITH a discount is just not realistic for benefit derived. If I had a boatload of money, why not? I don't so I won't...I can do so many more interesting things with that CA$H. Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Wasn't that system designed to work optimally between 10,000' and 12,000' anyway? If not over terrain or strong tailwinds above, I prefered my M20J from 6000' to 9000' for best performance. Quote
fantom Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 That's correct, Parker. It's an expensive non sequitur for the 201, even with the discount. Quote
Wistarmo Posted March 6, 2011 Report Posted March 6, 2011 Didn't help my 1993 M20J MSE one bit in cruise speed or fuel consumption, although I rarely cruise above 10,000. Climb is a little better. All slip joints must be disassembled and lubricated with anti-seize compound at each annual. Quote
eldeano Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I purchased my m20c with a power flow so I can't compare what it did for my plane, but I did get instruction in a non power flow equipped m20c. You can tell a bit of a difference, it seams to be smoother, but my fuel flow seems to be worse then other m20cs according to what people are saying on this site. I also lean fairly conservatively. Unfortunately, I do not have enough experience in the other m20c to make a true comparison. But it seems to me that climb and takeoff are a little bit better in mine then the other m20c I flew. Quote
