WBWFLYER Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I currently operate a 1989 Mooney M20J in the UK and have had a persistent problem with either the fuel pressure gauge or sender unit giving intermittent indications. I have obtained a replacement sender unit, Part Number CA880007-501. This, however, does not bear any resemblance to the original part installed. Any advice please? Quote
kris_adams Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Hey there. I'll start by saying I am not a mechanic and not near as smart as what everyone else here appears to be...I had a problem with my fuel pressure gauge as well (79-201). My mechanic was able to put a test gauge on a fuel line (somewhere) to show the system was providing the proper fuel PSI the gauge was just reading incorrectly (in my case just above the minimum fuel pressure). I've had to work on all of the gauges individually over the last 7 years so in my case I'm ditching them all for an EI. I'm not sure if this helps but maybe this will help rule in/out the gauge. -Kris Quote

That part number is only for S/N 24-0378 to 24-1417 which is much earlier than a 1989. There are several different transducer part numbers listed in the parts catalog. The correct one depends on your aircraft S/N. You haven't shared your tail number or S/N so it makes it difficult to be sure which one you need. Quote
AH-1 Cobra Pilot Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 I had a similar problem; fixed this last annual for about $420. "Problem: Fuel flow inoperative, transducer leaking fuel. Action Taken: Removed inoperable and leaking fuel flow transducer P/N FLOSCAN 201B-6 and installed new transducer P/N FLOSCAN 201B-6 referencing Mooney M20J Maintenance Manual Chapter 28-40." Quote

The OP was asking about fuel pressure not fuel flow. Quote
