PTK Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Another plane down...crashed through the roof of a house! Not good. According to reports had engine trouble right after takeoff and, you guessed it, decided to turn back. Appears to be a classic stall spin. When are we going to learn? http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Emergency-Crews-Responding-to-Reported-Plane-Crash-in-Haddam-388032132.html https://www.aopa.org/training-and-safety/air-safety-institute/accident-analysis/featured-accidents/engine-failure-on-climbout-leads-to-impossible-turn
Cruiser Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 maybe he was trying for the State Park parking lot. Where would you have gone?
gsengle Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Appears to have been a seaplane experimental... http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=282XT Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gsengle Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Here is a example of the type. Given that, the whole Connecticut River would have been an emergency strip.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
PTK Posted July 25, 2016 Author Report Posted July 25, 2016 Here's a video. Does look like a seaplane. http://m.wcvb.com/news/video-shows-small-plane-crashing-into-connecticut-home/40862640 With a river straight ahead and almost perfectly aligned for landing this is worse than I thought.
gsengle Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 It's a very short runway there and people panic at how close the bridge is there, that said he looked like he came down from a decent altitude... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
DXB Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 That's some video. Glad the guy is still alive at the moment and no one hurt on the ground. Really hope he lives to fly another day. Sounds like he had at least partial power from the audio? 1
kerry Posted July 26, 2016 Report Posted July 26, 2016 It's a miracle he survived. Maybe the trees and the roof of the house absorbed the energy making the fall survivable. 1
