ArtVandelay Posted July 11, 2015 Report Posted July 11, 2015 That's correct. You aren't missing anything! Whelen does not see the need to go to the expense to add the J to the STC. And I don't blame them. I've got the 650e installed on my J, and the 500 (tail) as well. My MSC handled paperwork. 1 Quote
Awqward Posted July 12, 2015 Report Posted July 12, 2015 This is very encouraging... Does the "paperwork " involve a Field Approval and a 337? I presume the STC for the earlier models could form the basis for Acceptable Data? Also the 500 unit is a combo aft position light / strobe...on my aircraft the aft position lights are on the wing tips...does your setup mean that you no longer use the wingtip aft position lights? Anthony As you can tell from my pix, I don't have that style of wing tips, my J is a 78, the tips were added later. 1 Quote
Nemesis Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 PTK and TJ, if the STC does not include the J, what was the authority used to install the Orion's? I would like to install as well but there don't seem to be many field approvals going through these days. Â Dave Quote
Alan Fox Posted July 13, 2015 Report Posted July 13, 2015 He said he installed it himself , so unless someone signed him off , there is no authority , Quote

Dave I don't know, MSC handled it, log entry says all work approved FAA, I'll check if I have extra paperwork. They are FAA TSO-C96a Class II / TSO-C30c Type II & III approved. 1 Quote
