Does anyone know how to set the digital tach on a 900 or 930 to match the tach time on the old tach? I called and asked and they said email them a request and they would send a PDF that explained how to do it. I emailed them late today but it looks like it will be Tuesday before I get a response.

Also does anyone know for sure what rpm the original tach uses to equate to 1 hr of time. I think I've heard 2566 before, but never saw it in writing.

The 930 on my 231 when I bought it was set at the factory before it was shipped. The times have to be set by JPI; I wanted to re-set the Hobbs time and was told I had to sent it to them. I'd be very interested to hear if they send you the PDF instructions. Please let me know. I do not know about the RPM figure.

The 830 can be changed because it is not considered to be primary. The 930 is factory set for this and several other primary limits and settings.

I have two electronic Tachs. The JPI and the EI one. They get out of synch a bit because the RPM level they kick in for counting is a little different. The EI records time above 1300 (is the primary) and I think the JPI is set at 800.

My 930 was installed 11/2012 and at that time JPI wanted it back to them for any changes. I believe that SOP has been loosened with upgraded firmware which allows more, non POH defined, to be changed in the field. My manuals with the supplemental instructions is at the airport. Send me a PM and I'll get back to you with the details though you might have to have EDM firmware upgraded to use. E.g. I know I can now enter alarm values such as CHT @ 400 without affecting the POH high limit of 475. I could also change the assumed rpm factor for the Hobbs which in now 2400 if I wanted to.

I think the Hobbs can now be reset but I will have to check new supplemental manual to be sure.

Update: Both the hobbs and tach time recorder can  be reset in the field with special instructions from JPI. You can also set the RPM you want the tach time recorder to use so it counts the same as your old tach.   Also as Bob mentioned above, although you can't change the primary limits you can set up alert messages  for parameters that will cause a message to pop up at any temp you choose. So even though my CHT limits are set a 475 and can't be changed I can set it to pop up an alert when they go above any temperature I choose.

Aron, Thanks for the info, JPI had sent me the addendum earlier this week.  They also had to send me a software upgrade to fix another issue.
