mulro767 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Some pretty interesting stuff here. This could be a cheaper way to bring the benefits of a HUD into general aviation. The possibilities are endless. http://www.avweb.com/videos/Aerocross-Wearable-HUD-Aviations-Google-Glass220395-1.html Quote
Rwsavory Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 This concept could be a game changer, much like the IPad for charts. Quote
RocketAviator Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Wont give up my tried and true navigation equipment but I am a self professed gadget guy and this would be something I would be very interested in if the price was at or under the 2k price point. Also depending on other costs such as subscriptions etc! Quote
co2bruce Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Saw this at Airventure. It is very cool, but takes some getting used to. Quote
aviatoreb Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 How about svt in google glasses? Quote
Schinderhannes Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Garmin offers a HUD for $150 that connects to an IPHONE for automotive use. This could be a fantastic add on for Garmin Pilot, Foreflight, or WingsX. Somehow i doubt Garmin will allow the use of the unit for aviation use. Quote
carusoam Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 I am interested in two pieces of information... A/S and/or AOA during the landing phase. If that would work, -a- Quote
Hector Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 http://www.mooneyspace.com/index.php?/topic/9070-Google-Glass-and-Aviationpage__view__findpost__p__99297 I posted about this back in May when Google Glass came out. Inevitably someone will develop HUD software for Google Glass. I could easily see Foreflight or WingX develop an interface for it as well, to include not just a HUD but virtual terrain and God only knows what else. I would not be surprised in the not to distant future if they also take traffic information and display its approximate location in a device like Google Glass. I think the guys in the video are developing their own hardware but I wonder if they will have a hard time competing both in terms of quality and cost with Google Glass. With their sales volume, Google glass may be hard to beat coastwise and then all it will take is for someone to come along with inexpensive software and make their product obsolete. Just like IPad and Foreflight did to the aviation specific tablets.. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Quote
