  1. I did a search of Moonespace and found a lot of Dog discussions and a lot about Mutt Muffs for hearing protection. What I couldn't find was if anyone had tried https://pawnix.com/. They make a noise canceling headset for dogs. They promote it as good for helping with loud noises. The best example they give is dogs who are afraid of thunderstorms, who sleep through them with the headset. They are a few mentions of flying but it is not clear if they mean commercial or GA. So, has anyone tried them? Any PIREP? Thanks, Doug
  2. I know the QT halo headset has been discussed several times on this forum but I have one lingering question that I'm mulling over in my head before making a new headset purchase. Does anybody have experience comparing the QT halos to the newest generation of Bose A20s or the Lightspeed Zulu 3? The specific metrics I'm looking for is noise reduction and sound clarity. I currently have a couple sets of DC H10-13.4 and they're good but don't work well with sunglasses, hats, or anything in between. I was thinking of going the ANR route as mentioned above but have a feeling I'll run into a similar situation. I know the QTs eliminate the head clamping issue and won't have any interference from sunglasses. I know this is comparing apples to oranges a bit but I think we can compare fruit. Also if anybody has experience with the bluetooth adapter that QT supports I'd like to hear about its functionality. Thanks! Matt
  3. If anyone is looking for a Halo headset from Quiet Technologies, they now have some black headsets and some yellow ones available. Order here... http://www.quiettechnologies.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51 As some know, the gentleman making them is very short-handed from a staffing standpoint, and only is able to turn out a few at a time, but as of tonight, there are limited quantities of both available. Just wanted to pass along to anyone interested but may have given up on looking. They go extremely fast...like within a day or two, and in the past, the few that have been released have been sold in less than a few hours. Although I bought one a year ago, I check periodically to see if any are made and released for sale....so FYI for anyone looking this evening. Steve
  4. So guys, I have to take a little trip next week. Taking our daughter to College for her orientation day. Our K model only has a 2 place intercom thats always enough, until we add a passenger. Its' about 4 hr flight and don't want to leave her all by herself, so to speak. I've attached a pic of a $90 2 place intercom from A/S. Couldn't I leave my headset plugged into my jacks on my side, plug this into my wifes jacks and then hers into the "pilot" jacks and our daughter into the "co-pilot" jacks ? My wife doesn't make radio calls so just need theirs to be internal to the cockpit. Thanks Gents....and yes a full new comm panel is coming soon with all of the other goodies.
  5. Anyone have experience with headsets for young kids? I’ve got 2 year old twins and we’re looking to get their first “real” headsets. Currently they use earplugs and/or passive protection, but it would be nice if we could talk to them and they could talk back. looks like D.C. has a youth model, appears really heavy. Pilot USA and Sigtronics both have youth models that are cheaper and lighter with same NR rating. Anyone tried them on a two year old? thanks, Rags
  6. Do any of you have any experience with in-the-ear aviation headsets? There are a few that show up most prominently when searching the internet (Clarity Aloft, Quiet Technologies, Faro). The in-the-ear headsets have some cool features: lighter weight, less bulky, no semi-permanent ear cup impressions on your head. I've had good experience with foam ear buds for communication in my race cars. Good, clear comm's to and from the airplane are most important. Decent sound quality for music is really nice too. I can find reviews for all three of the headsets I mentioned, but no comparisons of any of them. All the reviews I can find seem to be basically paid advertisements. Any slightly less biased opinions would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I am like a kid in a candy store. Cannot wait to try out the Lightspeed Aviation Tango Headset which is wireless! Just setting it up and walking around the house playing music from my phone was a blast. The headset is super comfortable. I plan on doing a test in a 1943 Super Stearman on Friday with some fab photos. Stay tuned for a full review. ‪#‎LookMaNoWires‬ ‪#‎Lightspeed‬ ‪#‎MooneyZoom‬
  8. I have two Quiet Technologies Halo Headsets for sale, pretty much new in black. I used one headset on one 2 hour flight flight and the other I have not yet taken out of its case. These are nice, well made units, but I realized I prefer active noise reduction. They come with all included accessories (except one set of yellow earplugs out of the included 5 pair per headset). Would like to sell them together for $600 shipped USA only.
  9. Hi All, I just purchased a new AV100 for my F model at Sun N Fun (which was quite a leap of faith as I was planning to purchase a new Bose). I spent a great deal of time comparing all the differnt ANR headsets like you can only do at Sunfun/Oshkosh. After doing my homwork and comparing everything I decided to try the Av100 and in point of fact they gave me a 30 day retrun option in case I did not like them. Needless to say this is the best purchase I have made in 20 years of flying! The ANR and passive noise reduction are outstanding, but the sound quality is well beyond anything availble. This becsue Harmon makes all kinds of high end recording studio equipment. Leveled off in cruise with the bluetooth playing is like being on a quiet beach with earbuds. I HIGHLY reccomend this headset above anything else I have ever used.. Just thought I would pass this along to my fellow mooney drivers.
  10. From the album: Misc

Trying the pediatric inserts that came with my Halo headset. Since she seemed to not mind these too much, another Halo may be in my future. Shot in the 201 while in the hangar.
  11. I have a couple of the old LIghtspeed L1 in ear head sets (one went south) and they are no longer serviced or available from LightSpeed. Looking for a couple new headsets. Any input on Clarity or Quite Tech or any other would be appreciated. Want to make a purchase this week if possible. Thanks in advance, Lacee
