  1. Update:. Got it out, inspected, being filled, then ready for reinstall.
  2. My 1975 M20F has a built in oxygen system. I've had the plane just over two years now and haven't used the oxygen system yet but wish to start. The last inspection stamp on the bottle is 5-10, so an inspection is due. I am hopeing someone else has a similar setup where the bottle is mounted in the center of the tail rear of the battery compartment and can give advice on removing the bottle from the confined space. I'm not sure if it's necessary to remove the angle hangers or to disconnect the static lines and maneuver the bottle toward the side then down and forward to remove out the battery access. I can add pictures if necessary.
  3. Congrats for getting your F. I've had mine 2 years now and love it. Control your airspeed and you'll love your too.
  4. Yes Pinerunner, I still have my curtains hanging.
  5. I've got Tullahoma on my calendar.
  6. In a search through the threads to find where to look to stop my annoying horn on the ground, I found your comment. Can you briefly explain. Thanks
  7. Ok, I have panel envy. I hear money is the cure.
  8. Dukes says 10 years and intermittent use only. I don't remember any time limitation on the Weldon and it can be run constantly ( in case it accidentally gets left on longer than it should after take off).
  9. I don't have the model numbers with me now. I called Weldon an spoke with them, gave them the year and model of the plane and the model of the pump. They assured me it would be a direct drop in replacement. The were correct. The screws, inlet and outlet was exact. They told me the Weldon model I would need and I ordered from aircraft spruce. The Dukes pump requires the screen filter inline between the pump and the engine. Even though it's not required, there is no need to take it out as everything will fit back as before. I understand some of the earlier year models required modification to change pump brands. The Mooney service and parts manual will also help identify what you'll need. Found this pic with model number. 4140-00-19A
  10. I removed and replaced mine a few months ago. I checked with my A&P first and he had no problem with me doing the work and having him inspect before signing off. It does take a little more time going back in than coming out so take your time and it's no big deal. Consider going back with the Weldon pump. It's an approved direct replacement, is less expensive new than rebuilding the Dukes and has some other advantages. I will admit the Weldon doesn't have the sexy purr that the Dukes has.
  11. My F did the same last week. I had spent a few days in Branson tied down outside in the rain. When I departed I noted the altimeter didn't seem quit normal. Once I leveled off and set the altitude hold, a few minutes later the plane pitched up all of a sudden. I immediately turned off the altitude hold and hand flew the plane. I tried again later in the flight with the same effect. I thought of water in the static system but not until the next day did I think of using the alternate static source. I spoke to my avionics guy and he agreed it was probably water in the line. I tried to drain at both drains but got nothing out. The water may have dried enough in the hanger in six days to not cause a problem. On my flight yesterday everything worked normal. I still plan to let my avionics guy take a look to see if he can tell where the water got in.
  12. I plan on being there.
  13. I just signed up for this one. It will be my first. I've heard nothing but good reviews about this program. I tried to call and ask what airport and hotel it would take place, but the office is closed on Fridays. I'm looking forward to it.
  14. Yes it was Jason Kramer that I used. I don't want to sound negative about him. I think he did a good job for me. Looking back I would have liked to have covered more power managment, engine managment and maybe some topics that would be seen as important by someone that owns and flys his own Mooney on a regular basis. Since this is my first plane to own, I was and am still absorbing as much quality information as I can get.
  15. I was lined up with the ferry pilot for my check out. I had zero hours in a Mooney when I picked up my M20F after the prebuy/annual at KGGG. I spent 5 hours with him on Friday afternoon of which only less than an hour was in the plane. Saturday afternoon (after his regular students lesson) we spent about 5 hours in the plane and he was ready to sign me off. I think he charged about $600. I think if I had to do it over again, I may spent a little more time to find someone that does Mooney specific training. Don't get me wrong this instructor had many hours in Mooneys , but after flying my plane for almost a year now, there were some topics that where not covered and some topics that could have been covered more in depth. I did feel comfortable (safe) enough when I left on my two hour cross country trip home. The insurance company did not require a specific number of hours. Just a sign off by a CFI. Note: the CFI was not the previously mentioned Garrett
  16. After reading the other comments, I may need to give Halo a try. My wife's been fussing about her cup style headsets getting heavy. This may be the excuse I need. Must keep her happy.......right?
  17. I have the Clarity Aloft and love them. I don't use the music feature,so no help there. They are so comfortable there is no need to ever adjust them. You can actually forget your wearing them.
  18. Since the subject is vacuum gauges, is it common for some planes not to have a true ( round) gauge? My '75 F only has the warning light for low vacuum. It seems that I should install a true gauge so that I would be able to note trends and maybe see an upcoming vacuum pump failure.
  19. No,no..... The pictures are there
  20. Thanks again for all the welcomes
  21. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Mooneygirl I recently joined MAPA John, I look forward to meeting you at Reserve or Pineville Andrew, I am hangered in Slaughter. It's very convenient since its only three minutes from my driveway. I just wish they had lights on the runway. I have spoken with Bob Davis and used Don Maxwell for my perpurchase inspection. Do you have a recommendation of someone to look at my autopilot?
  22. I finally got a Mooney. I've wanted one for years. My 1975 M20F seems to be everything I thought it would be. I'm ready to accumulate some hours . I've kept up with this site for a while now and expect to put some of the good information to use. As a new Mooney owner I'm sure I will have many questions for all you experienced owners. Hello to all!
