  1. I notice that they offer bladders manufactured by Aero Tech Service - Los Angeles. I did not pull up O&N but appears they're the same. The only Mooney bladders I recall being mentioned on MS is O&N. ?
  2. That is in fact exactly what it is. Just came in from the airport. Finished the Annual and plan to round trip Smyrna TN tomorrow and again Friday. Love the new windows! We also rebuilt the fuel selector and repacked the trim "gear box". I ain't used to working quite so hard. We had a lot torn apart, hope we didn't miss anything important.
  3. Not G1000 but the CYA100 is very small and fit in my clean panel in what I think is a good spot in my field of vision. http://mooneyspace.com/profile/8913-bob_belville/?tab=node_gallery_gallery

  5. Yes its a 66 model that was off the production line in 65. Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks Barcho. Ain't that 2nd vent window sexy? I got the idea from a Rockwell 114 based here and then found that GLAP offered it as an option. I like the 201 windshield but the mod was done in the '90s, before I owned the plane, so I don't have anything to add regarding the hours to install. I have documented cruise @ 158 kts @ 75% 9500' @ less than gross. But I also have almost all the other mods available including PowerFlow exhaust, 1 pc belly, gap seals, etc. LASAR's projected speed gains cannot be added together! My new panel was installed with the 201 windshield already in place and the shop engineered it to be able to get it the components. I had to remove the JPI EDM and send it back to the factory. I was able to do that myself without returning to the a. shop. (Nothing on a Mooney, on either side of the firewall, is easy to work on. I have a tool box full of special sockets, wrenches, etc. to get at unreachable nuts.) I am replacing the windshield with a new 201 windshield. The old one was pretty scarred up, there were a couple of spots where it appeared that a mechanic had placed an old fashion, hot, drop light on the glareshield, against the acrylic. It has been bothering me for 4 years, since I bought the plane. (I'm getting pretty near the list of annoying stuff left over from prior owners.) BTW, yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the test flight sign-off on this plane, the 1st entry in the log book!
  7. Well, it does stink, but not that bad. (Probably worse inside a tank!) About 50 years ago I worked in a tannery in Whitehall MI. Visitors always asked how we could stand the smell in the hide house. Our stock response: smells like money to me.
  8. I thought I'd give folks a look at how we access avionics with a 201 windshield mod. No big deal, just pull out the "glass".
  9. Biennial, now called simply Flight Review. (Bi-Annual would be twice each year.)
  10. Barcho, we finished the side windows today but ran out of time so the windshield will be tomorrow. Lighting is poor so I'm anxious to get it out in the daylight which won't be around until Thursday. I am very pleased!
  11. We got the 4 side windows finished today. Windshield tomorrow. (Sealant used: Flamemaster CS 3330-B2. Which is what DMax and the Mooney factory uses.)
  12. With engine off, the JPI should show MAP @ baro pressure minus ~ 1" per 1000' pressure altitude.
  13. Quick comment, though not affecting cruise speed, you should see more like 29"on take off below 1000' AGL. You do not say what speed you're using for climb.
  14. That's not my understanding. I believe complete failure mode is low pitch but that there is a mechanical(?) stop that limits rpm to 2700 (or whatever it is set to).
  15. I am paperless. And Pad-less. I have a GTN 750 for which Garmin gets the same $1000 per year. My back up is a GPS 696 which costs another $500/yr.
  16. When I got ADS-B which puts NexRad etc. on the 750 I reduced the XM subscription on the 696 to just radio. I just checked out Sirius site and chatted with their help folks. I'll have to call to add Marine (inland) to what I have. The site has it @ $13 but there are discounts for muli receivers (I have XM radio in a car) so $10 may be what I'll get when I call. I had NexRad on the 696 3 years ago so I would think Don should get in on a 796.
  17. Dev, real world, everything working, I seldom pay much attention to the #2 Nav except to do in flight VOR checks against the Aspen. But as you realize, if the Aspen fails you are left w/o a backup CDI, Glide slope. I don't think I've seen a IFR panel that didn't have 2 independent vor/loc. In the steam gauge era often only one had a glideslope.
  18. Yeah you are all set, but Dev's panel has only one Aspen and no other CDI that I can see.
  19. Nice! I'm missing a second/bu VOR/LOC/Glideslope Indicator?
  20. I have a 750 and a 696. They DB cards work differently. The 750 needs to have a card in the socket when in use, I suppose some data is not uploaded to the GPS. The 696 card can be removed after it uploads the data to the GPS. That is unless you have a checklist or other owner generated info on the card in which case the card needs to be in the GPS to access that info. the 750 takes much less time to upload than the 696 does. Garmin has a package price for multiple installed units in a single panel. That does not help in the case where one is a portable.
  21. Sorry Don, I'm mostly joking. But they did ask and I briefed them on where to find everything they would need. They mean well, Nancy's dad dies last year @ 93 and we've all been through the decisions with her 91 year old mother who also is with us.
  22. Coincidentally(?) my daughter and son-in-law were here for T'giving. Before they left they tried to delicately bring up the subject of wills and such planning that they thought Nancy and I should be keeping up to date. (Did I mention they're both big city lawyers?) It being a holiday and all, I did not tell them to buzz off nor did I tell them that my actual plan is to outlive her and her sister.
  23. In 20 years I'll be 92 and the airframe will be 70. Think either of us will care if Garmin still exists of if the globe has been warmed to extinction?
