  3. From the album: Going Solar!

This is as far as the factory wire went from the 6W solar panel
  4. From the album: Going Solar!

I ran down the battery trying to get her started in the cold (40*) weather
  5. I bought Donald Kaye's video about landings and it helped tremendously. I have also found that the best range is 70-75 mph over the numbers and it'll settle in nicely.
  6. We were giving free rides to children at an airport function. An 8yr old child during the flight grabbed the yoke pulling and pushing all the while squeezing the PTT and yelling "I wanna fly it! I wanna fly it!" - when on the ground his mother apologized that he didn't take his "meds" because she was worried he would get sick. The other pilots had a good laugh afterwards as they all heard the screaming on the radio!
  7. I am based at Stanly County, (KVUJ) Albemarle, NC - just east of Charlotte, NC. There are a few Mooneys there - I have met some of the owners. We should plan a "Mooneyiacs" meeting somewhere at the Carolina beaches every few months for lunch. I fly down to Southport NC, Ocean Isle NC and Grand Strand, SC regularly for the fun of it.
  8. The more I read this thread the more I like my wind-up* step! *the problem is that I don't always remember to wind it up!

  10. True the tail didn't come off of this one... but it was close! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956-BEECH-G-35-BONANZA-NO-PROP-STRIKE-GEAR-UP-DAMAGE-CHEAP-/140906185292?pt=Motors_Aircraft&hash=item20cea9c24c
  11. Be careful not to fly to close to "hidden no fly zones"... http://www.aopa.org/aircraft/articles/2013/130110secret-no-fly-zone.html?WT.mc_id=&wtmcid;&WT.mc_sect=gan&cmp=ePlt:Phto
  12. Welcome! I just went thru the same process - bought in May, finished the updates in November and have loved flying her ever since! Good luck!
  13. I agree, the screws are always getting jammed or stripped from being taken out and put back in. Since they are so cheap there is no excuse for trying to reuse marginal screws.
  14. From the album: N6233U Restoration

I thought I should call it like I see it!
  15. From the album: N6233U Restoration

    N6233U is ready to fly!
  16. From the album: N6233U Restoration

Taking off from KVUJ you get this gorgeous view of Lake Tillery
  17. Check the Magneto timing as well - if it is off it might not show up until higher RPMs.
  18. Phew! I thought I was doing good when I hit 200 mph the other day!
