I am considering flying in on Thursday. Does anyone have suggestions on the accommodations. Everything is either sold out or thru the roof expensive. I think the Hampton Inn is like .3 AMU's per night. Amazing!!!!!

Does anyone have a line of a set of head rests for the 201 / 231. They were missing when we took delivery of our bird and the previous owners wife could never find them. Color and condition is not a concern as we are redoing our interior at this time. Thanks in advance, W

Hi guys, i am sitting at our favorite interior shop and we are making color choices for new seats and carpet. We are getting hung up on carpet as I TRULY LOVE the original carpet color. It flows well with the new vinyl inserts that are on the side walls. I would like to ask if any of you know a source for this color that I have in the pictures attached. As always, thank you in advance for your insights and opinion. Fly Safe, Walt

Don, I thought that the cool look came from the fact that you were flying it :-)

Lord or Barry??? Besides price, is there an advantage to either mount brand? Thanks in advance, Walt

Hi guys, I am in the midst of redoing the interior plastic panels in our 231. One thing I try to do with every toy I refurb is keep it the way she came out of the factory. Can anyone direct me to a source for the exact colors that Mooney painted these panels. This aircraft has what appears to be either yellow or beige panels. The exterior base color is beige. I would think that the yellow color would be a result of 40 years of fading. Does Mooney keep records of the original colors that were ordered? Thank you in advance, Walt

I do not think so.

Parker, There is a split that has developed on the nickel sheath that protects the leading edge of one blade. Moisture can not be allowed to get underneath that or else it could start delaminating. The airport where she has been based for the past 4 years has older concrete for the taxiways and runways. Read , lots of little pebbles and debris to pick up during slow taxi or beginning of the take off roll. I expect that this damage is due to cumulative effects of multiple hits

It is interesting that you mention useful load. I was just digging through the aircraft paperwork pile and found the updated Weight and Balance for that install. The McCauley weighed 58.4 lbs. The MT weighs 47.4 lbs. Only an 11 lb gain in UL. But then again, it is a gain of UL. I would favor the MT

What is UL? As far as promises from MT, I can not say I have been done wrong by them. My expectations of the performance seem to have been in line with what I have experienced. Excellent climb perf improvements combined with a very smooth and quiet ride has been my experience. However, the cost and time of repairing these props is commensurate with the process of dealing with any product made of composite materials. My only serious disappointment is with the damage that is done by picking up small rocks that cause dings to the leading edges. Once the nickel sheath that protects the leading edge is punctured then the blade needs to be overhauled.

Hi guys, I am in the midst of preparing 231LR for sale. The three things that she needs is: - MT Prop overhaul - Repaint the upper and lower cowling. (Previous owner used to love grass strips I think) - Redo the interior My question is this. I upgraded to the MT Propeller back in 2013. I absolutely LOVE flying behind this smooth quiet prop. It has made climb outs a total pleasure with the performance. However, If you were buying a Mooney, would you gravitate to a sexy high tech, high performance prop that needs more maintenance than the low tech two blade McCauley. Right now I am weighing out the following decision: 1. 3.5 to 4.0 AMU's to overhaul the MT 2. Purchase a McCauley with 125 SOH for 3.9 AMU's then sell the MT with a damaged blade for whatever I can get for it. If it's just about saving dollars then option 2 is the way to go. However, I wonder if that High Tech MT hanging on the front would enhance the resale process and reduce the time on the market. Thank you in advance, Walt

+1 for Phil Jiminez. He does excellent work and is very knowledgeable on the Mooney brand. On top of that, he is a very good person as well. He truly cares about his clients and their Aircraft. -
Yeah but I just want it for ONE DAY. I own two airplanes now. That is one too many. :-)

All of the jets I have flown have been big bulky airliners. They are very cool but I would LOVE to play with a small jet one day.

To get REAL WORK all you need to be is "RELIABLE". And for me that means that you appreciate the fact that the placement company has honored you with a place on their list of people to call. Their reputation is based on being able to find reliable professional people with good skill sets. Reliable to me means that the placement company doesn't have to "talk you off of the sofa". People who are reliable on a consistent basis form a good reputation for themselves and eventually find themselves being offered better assignments and even full time positions. This is true for any profession.

If you have a commercial ticket with instrument and multi engine ratings then you can find work out there if you want it.

The only way I would replace the 530W would be if it were inop and it was cost prohibitive to repair/overhaul it. Personally, I am against having too many pretty screens in these small airplanes that spend most of their time in airspace that is crowded with other small airplanes with pretty screens. I have seen too many students go heads down and stop looking out the window for extended time. Cheers, W

Well he will charge hiim, but he might be submitting it to his insurance carrier. I'd like to know what the treatment code is for that procedure. Should I look up "Landing Light Switch Cover Pulpotomy"???? -
Hi guys, I just found this news story on this subject. What I find amazing is a clueless city official who can not tell us what the plan is for a job creation center combined with a Navy representative who could tell us specifically what the threat is. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/georgia/st-mary-s-airport-being-shut-down-due-to-navy-security/460022162 I am just appalled that I pay the heavy taxes that I do for these people to have a job. And what is wrong with the paint job? If it is free of nicks then a good detail would save a lot of money.
-
I would save my money on a "new" WAAS GPS by finding an overhauled GNS430, 480 or 530. Unless one has money to burn, you can find these units with careful screening of the market.

<Raising Hand in the back of the classroom> UUUUMMMMM, Can someone tell me what is WRONG with that interior? The seats look like nice older leather in good shape.

Thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate it. And yes I do want new cannulas :-)
