  1. Hi Guys, I am finding some leaks at my valve covers and am about to tighten them up. Do we have to torque these? And if so, what would be the spec. This is a TSIO-360LB. Thank you in advance, Walt
  2. Come on Steve. Jumpseat is open.
  3. Hello all, I will be doing a 24 hour layover in Rome tomorrow. If there are any Mooneyiacs near who would like meet for coffee please speak up. Cheers, Walt
  4. Gentlemen, Being in aircraft sales I have done more engine overhauls than I care to. It is a pain in the ass job for both aircraft owner and the shop if they are good. No one is perfect. Ever. I just picked up my M20K from Jewell Aviation on Thursday. I had a 3.7 hour leg back to Georgia to start the break in period. So far so good. Engine runs very smooth and performed very very well. But on top of that, I got to know David and Sam very well during the process. We had 5 months together via phone due to Continental's inability to get cylinders to them. And other logistical issues. The close relationship that was built due to the EXCELLENT SUPPORT and COMMUNICATION is second to none. I was VERY HAPPY with them and would bring another engine to them in a heartbeat. They are a small family run business where Father, Son and Brother and a small group of loyal employees support and care for their clients. That is the attitude that they bring to work every day. They did back flips to take care of every single request and even my smallest question. I am very picky on who works on my airplane. I have also used Western Skyways for one engine. I was very happy with them as well. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Especially about two shops I would avoid like the plague. Peace, Walt
  5. Typical sleepy small town was my impression. Agriculture is the big industry there. On the way up from Memphis, I passed through Blytheville, AR where an airport with well over 100 retired Delta MD-80’s are sitting in storage or being parted out. Several large hangars were filled with airliners in for maintenance. So I would say that those workers found new jobs.
  6. Great trip. Between dodging boomers at both ends of the leg, learning the 830, and experiencing the new engine I stayed plenty busy. Thanks for all the feedback. Jewel Aviation in Kennett, Mo builds a great engine. Also, I have an EDM 700 with all probes for sale if anyone is interested. Thanks, Walt
  7. A big pa try of my entertainment WILL BE the new EDM 830. But I will have that mastered in the first hour.
  8. Hi guys, Long time, no post. Hope all is well. I have a 4 hour leg tomorrow from KTKX to KSSI picking up our bird from the engine shop. I’d like to know what you do for inflight entertainment on your iPad. Thanks in advance, Walt
  9. One of the FBO rampies made a minor ruckus. It was 95 degree heat and my car was on the other side so I kept going.
  10. Good afternoon all, Is there some new reg or rule that has been written that says, "Thou shall not walk across the runway of an uncontrolled airport" in the past 41 years since I started flying?
  11. Please explain to me the motivation behind doing an overhaul. You just did a top overhaul only 350 hours ago. Is there a problem with the bottom end? Burning oil? Low compressions after 350 STOH? I am really curious.
  12. Hi guys, I am planning to renew my CFI ticket in October and I am looking for a standardized syllabus and profiles to use for practice for the check ride. Are there any out there that are set up for the 201/231. Thanks in advance, Walt
  13. Yes, for the last 9 years.
  14. That is one reason why it is hard to sell 231LongRange. I've brought her back from a barn find covered in West Texas Dust to her current glory. I am so enamored with the Genius of Al Mooney.
  15. How about this one? Just got listed today https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=MOONEY&model=M20K+231&listing_id=2393613&s-type=aircraft
  16. Good morning all, What is the "Torque SB" that Dan is referring too here? I am in the midst of doing my first DIY oil change and I want to make sure everything I do is perfect. Thanks, W
  17. Is there any update to the status of this case. Id like to know if the errant shop, grew a pair and owned up to what they have caused for this poor guy. Life is short and the world is small. Especially the Aviation World. Everyone knows everyone and we create the karma that we have to live with. Stuff like this can the be thing that takes down your whole business. Peace, W
  18. That's because he is a great guy!!!!
  19. Well I finally found it. Tucked away in Appendix B it says 25 - 30 lbs. Once again, you guys show me what an awesome forum this is. Thank you for all the support. This is my first time ever doing DYI maintenance on my aircraft. With some help from an EAA friend of course.
  20. Hi guys, ive dug through the MX manual a bit and can’t seem to find this number. What would it be for the TSIO-360LB Thank you in advance, W
