SWTA 201 Windshield Available - SOLD
omega708 replied to omega708's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Dave, The windshield is the smoke grey, but it was pulled out of a '66 model E so it definitely is not brand new and does not have the protective paper on it. It is in good shape, but I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking that it is new. Please see the pictures that I attached above. Thanks. -
SWTA 201 Windshield Available - SOLD

The windshield is definitely the light smoke grey tint. Two pictures attached. It was cold and nasty out when I took the pictures so they aren't the greatest. Aside from being dirty, the windshield is in great shape. There's some sealant that'll need to be removed but other than that it should be good to go. I took an additional picture that shows where the windshield was filed down slightly to clear a structural piece of the airframe (I assume the tubular cage.) -
SWTA 201 Windshield Available - SOLD

Thanks for the replies. As Scott indicated, this is not a factory 201 replacement is really only a good fit for folks that already have the SWTA STC on their plane. I'm pretty sure that this windshield is the grey tint. I'll validate that when I go to the hangar later today and will follow up with pictures. -
I have a SWTA "201" windshield available in good condition. I initially purchased the windshield hoping to install it in my C model, but was unable to do so since I did not have the STC. I believe this would be a good backup or replacement windshield for anyone that currently has the SWTA STC installed. Additionally, I have the retaining strap that mounts on the front if you happen to need that. I'll grab some pictures when I go to the hangar this weekend. Make me an offer. Thanks!

I have no idea how long it takes for the gyro to fully spin up to normal operating speed, but it seems that if I wait until I'm doing my normal run-up procedures to make the initial adjustment to the DG things seem to work out better for me. If I set it shortly after startup, 15 minutes into the flight it seems to have drifted considerable more.

Sent you a PM regarding your seat back. -JLG

Thanks for picking up that torch, so-to-speak. Let us know when they receive their PMA and I'll order a set that day...

Would you mind posting a picture / video of the lights in action?

For anyone that's refreshed their interior themselves or with the assistance of a local upholstery shop... How many yards of material will be needed to recover the seats, upholstered portions of the side panels and the roof lining? I've used a local upholstery / interior shop for several items over the years and always had excellent results, so I'm considering ordering the necessary certified materials and having this shop help dress up the interior of my 67 C model. Thanks!

You're talking about sidetone.

I purchased a Quiet Technologies Halo about a year ago and I wish I'd done so years ago. Several friends have borrowed mine and then followed up with their own purchase to replace their ANC headsets. I've never used a Clarity Aloft, but I have an acquaintance that flies with one and likes it as well.

Same here. Stay safe out there...

Agreed, I really like the presentation that they've provided. It's virtually impossible to misread. It does take up a bit more room than the vertical versions that I've seen, but I'd find a way to squeeze it into my panel if it was available.

+1 on the Menthol inhaler. Likely a typo.

There are some physicians on the board that can probably explain things better, but most people notice a significant reduction in motion sickness / nausea if they take an antihistamine prior to the activity that typically causes motion sickness / nausea. I have few friends that get motion sickness and I always have them take a Zyrtec (or the generic form of it) about an hour before we fly. Benadryl / Dramamine helps most people, but it makes them lethargic, but Zyrtec seems to do the trick without any of the nasty side effects. I learned this little trick while on a road trip with a buddy of mine. He was driving and he had me look up some information in a packet that he'd printed out for the trip. Normally, I cannot read while on the road without getting nauseous or at least a splitting headache, but I noticed that it didn't seem to bother me that day. So I pulled out a flying magazine and read it cover to cover with no issues. That's when I realized that I had taken a Zyrtec earlier in the day due to some seasonal allergies, which only bother me about 2 weeks out of the year. As pilots, we're not supposed to take Zyrtec and fly even though it doesn't cause drowsiness in most people. However you can take Allegra, which doesn't work quite as well for me, but it does help. I passed this trick on to another friend the historically got severe nausea on even the smoothest commercial flights, now it's smooth sailing for him. Hopefully this will help! Good Luck!

The red light stays on in my manual gear C model as long as the gear is not fully down...

Post Deleted... Sorry for the confusion.

A lot more feedback than I was anticipating! It sounds like most everyone is using the sims in a similar fashion as my intention. Since I operate on both Windows and Mac, I was planning on using the latest version of x-plane and I'm still trying to decide on the controls. The Carenado 201 will be a must even though it will be a little more slippery than my C model. If / when I get this all setup I'll post some pictures and reviews...

Do any of you guys / gals use flight simulators? I used X-Plane years ago before I had my PPL, and obviously, my Mooney. I'm working on my Instrument rating right now, and have been thinking about getting one of the nicer flight control setups with a desk mounted control wheel / throttle quadrant and rudder pedals to use to enhance my training. Specifically, I was going to use it for doing the easy stuff like VOR tracking, intercepting localizers, and just good old fashion instrument scan. I'm extremely busy with work through the end of June and then will be able to ramp my flyng time up to several times per week, which will greatly accelerate my training, but I have the itch to fly and thought the Sim might help out since I can do it anytime for any duration and without a safety pilot. Good idea? Terrible idea?

So What's the Story with This???
omega708 replied to BigTex's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I have wondered the same thing many times. -
The following items were removed, in full working order, from my '67 C model during a panel upgrade a few months ago. First up is a clean Mid-Continent MD40-65 CDI / Annunciator. Next is an Apollo / IIMorrow 2001 NMS GPS. Lastly is an Apollo / IIMorrow Map 360. All items are clean and in good working order and I even have the original owners manual for the GPS and Moving Map. The moving map has the standard map function but also can provide your typical "default nav" page with electronic CDI, ETE, ETA, ground speed, DTK etc... Frankly I wish I'd left it in my plane.. I've attached pictures of all of the above, and hopefully the attachment process works. If you're interested just make me an offer... Thanks!
