  1. Good idea, I'll be wearing a red carnation on my lapel.
  2. According to the S&F website, Mooney is not on the list of participating exhibitors. One place to meet could be the bar just in front of the Sunset Grill (across the Bose tent which is next to exhibit hangar A) . See Convention map http://www.sun-n-fun.org/FlyIn/Maps/conventionMap.aspx for more details. I suggest that best time would be lunch time, say 1:30 pm.
  3. A referendum was conducted and Putin said "Тема закрыта"
  4. Hi Oscar, Harald and I will be there but he is coming directly form Europe. Jose
  5. JPI for sure will have a rebate for the Sun & Fun convention next month and you do not have to attend to claim it. If you buy from one of their dealers (say Gulf Coast) during the rebate period (well beyond the duration of the Convention) they'll send you a coupon with the unit, send it to JPI with a copy of your receipt and they'll send you the rebate for that product. JPI engine monitors and the 450 fuel totalizer have had a GPS output for a long time now. Because I got a great price at the time I have the totalizer and the engine monitor in two separate instruments which in a way I like better because I do not have to scroll and chose either engine or ff display like in a single instrument (say EDM 700). Connected to the GPS, the fuel information in terms of used, required to destination and reserve is updated constantly if you adjust the power, the winds change impacting your ground speed or if you deviate for weather. I'm surprised that some do not find this information useful. Flying in the flight levels does not apply to most of us.
  6. Dave, Sorry, just saw your earlier answer, I'm still interested in participating in the formation and joining the clinic. In fact I did not renew my reservation this year at the university dorms so I can camp with the group. Years ago I joined the Cessnas to Oshkosh and it was great fun. Jose
  7. Available for sale, PM me if interested for prices and pictures if needed: Bendix Mags S4 LSC-200, Part# 10-600614-1 including ignition harness (less than 100 hrs of use) LASAR T-300 timing tool (never used) CP 1172 Challenger air filter (NIB) KMA 20 audio panel RC Allen (RCA 80A-15) 3" electric turn coordinator Wagner H7635 light and new landing light lens
  8. Didn't know that the E or F also had manual landing gear and this one carries 88 gls of fuel
  9. I have owned my 68C for four years now and the TC has worked OK given its age. You said that you sent it "here and there" for repair, I would only send it to Brittain, never dealt with them but have only read positive comments about their work.
  10. Thanks Caruso. The problem surfaced before and my shop said they found a "loose" connection somewhere and the problem disappeared but is back again.
  11. Brace for impact because they must be expensive. Just for landing there (KROA) about 4 years ago and they charged me $25!
  12. Apparently they found the problem, went flying today and the gear warning worked! However another problem developed, 1/2 hr into the flight and apparently the manifold pressure developed a leak somewhere and started showing the barometric pressure. Never a dull moment.
  13. You can preserve the original EGT, in the C installed in C#4, and make a second hole for the new engine monitor probe. For the CHT bayonet style JPI sells an adapter so you can "piggyback" the additional CHT probe. Installation and routing of the wiring through the engine takes about 3-4 hours max, then you have to get the 8 wires through the firewall, in my case there was space enough in an existing hole to go through together with other wiring from the engine. Installing the indicator may vary depending on what is behind the panel but I would guess not more than 4 hours.
  14. I wasn't planning to spend that kind on money in repairing a 46 year old instrument and certainly not buy a new one for $2461. I was posting it just to inform the group because in the meantime my mechanic updated the situation by saying that both horns are working OK and he was checking for some other wiring issues. The process of getting these quotes was cumbersome and a waste of time for everybody, a phone call was not enough, I had to send an email indicating that a was the owner, the mail first went to the new part department, after that to the repair department, the whole process lasted 4 days!!.
  15. Just got a quote from Safe Flights Instruments to repair my dual warning horn and what a relief, it was only $1600 compared to $2461 for a new one .
  16. Exactly the same problem with my right fuel gauge, i have the JPI connected to my GPS so always know within 1-2 gls how much fuel I have
  17. Hope you are not looking to buy a new transducer anytime soon, Part# 880045-501 is about $2500. And while on the subject of crazy prices, a new dual warning horn (stall+gear), part #283 by Safe Flight Instruments is $2461.
  18. Just got a quote on a new dual warning horn (Part# 283) from Safe Flights instruments. I hope you are sitting down: $2461.00 Fortunately my mechanic informed me that the horn is working fine and they are trouble shooting the wiring.
  19. I also got one of those with my 68C and it also included a small screwdriver.
  20. In my 68C I have the Johnson bar. I think that the mechanic did not see the horn because it would have been behind his head attached to the firewall and covered by bunch of cables. I found it from the top once I removed the panel cover. I talked to the people from Safe Flights Instruments and had to send them an email to request two quotes, one for a new unit and the other for repair. They would not quote anything over the phone and do make schematics available to the public either. To remove this combination horn is going to take time and $$ thus since the stall horn part works, I was thinking if an additional and separate horn could be wired for the gear. This is assuming that the problem is not with the microswitch at the throttle cable. BTW the part# is 283 not 280 as I previously indicated.
  21. I understood from the technician at JPI that all you have to do is make a T connection at the fuel line to install the JPI transducer that will connect to the JPI slim-line gauge. Other set ups may also be possible depending what is in place now by way of fuel flow metering system.
  22. Searching for a fuel pressure transducer Part# 880045-501 for a friend in South America who said that LASAR quoted him $1800. Are there any other sources/replacement/alternatives for this part? For example would it be possible to install a JPI Slim-line fuel pressure gauge which will t off the fuel line?
  23. Another tip, at least for many countries that I have visited by private aircraft, if you list your companion as passenger they will charge you a fee, so in the General Dec always indicate 2 crew (pilot and co-pilot).
  24. Found the gear horn attached to the firewall, pilot side, next to the hydraulic fluid reservoir. A dual warning unit, Part#280 by Safe Flight Instruments. The stall horn worked but I didn't know how to try to trigger the gear horn w/o jacking up the airplane. Here is a picture for future reference. Most of the original wiring behind the panel has been replaced, including the wiring to this unit.
  25. I launched several ferry trips to South America from Banyan but I was not paying for the fuel and I have a couple of friends who work there. On my own I'd stay at W Aviation or Sano where the fuel is $1.50/gl cheaper!!. Banyan's pilot shop is great but it is also open to everybody.
