  1. Would a Mooney be out of the question?
  2. Williston, X60, has cheap gas and a small cafe just off field.
  3. Also keep in mind that while you may not feel that it's a big deal, it will hamper your efforts to sell the plane in the future.
  4. I use Mach .84, but I fly LOP.
  5. A couple of things. I've heard that if you contact MMOPA, they'll let you on the forums for a month free. You have to ask though. Second, Kevin Mead is on the POA boards. He is the Don Maxwell of the 3 M's. I'd ask him directly about the plane. He has countered some of the misconceptions about the 10% number. The skinny is that most of the failures were early in the planes history. The last thing is that for all intent, you're maintaining a twin. It has FIKI, twin turbos, twin intercoolers, pressurization and one more expensive engine. Of course, it costs more. Expect to have to go to a formal school for insurance. There are some guys that will come to you or there are simulator schools. I have no experience flying one. It's only what I have read.
  6. Here's the biggest fear I see in owning a Mooney. Lack of factory only parts. John
  7. New price is $4.81 as of 9/27.
  8. I did mine in a M20G also. John
  9. Yep, the county has reopened the self serve pump. There is a full service truck too, but at a higher cost. The web site for the airport is http://apopkahangars.com/ Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/OrlandoApopkaAirport John
  10. I'm sure that you have checked out www.beechtalk.com for all the information on BE-58P's. John
  11. I flew to St. Petersburg for lunch today. Of course, it was in a rental Piper John
  12. Quote: FlyFstr It's a nice airplane. Have you plugged your numbers into AOPA's Vref?
  13. Do you know if the gentleman based out of Bob White rents his Mooney? John
  14. Quote: Parker_Woodruff Looks like quantity available is up by almost 30 aircraft over the past 3-4 weeks to the highest I can remember seeing. Numbers were holding strong in the high 140s-low 150s for awhile. I'm hopefully wrapping up the acquisition of a Mooney 252 here in a couple weeks, but it'll be coming down off T-A-P. I haven't been paying attention to other makes/models to see quantity. http://www.controller.com/drilldown/models.aspx?ETID=1&catid=6&Manu=MOONEY&setype=1
  15. The paint stripper removes the filler. John
  16. I've never owned a Mooney. I trained in a F model for my commercial ticket and rented a 231 for a couple of years. It's too bad you don't see Mooney's for rent any more.
  17. I've been "lurking" for awhile. I was born and raised in California, but I've been chasing aviation jobs around the country. I received my commercial SEL in a E model Mooney. I then rented a 231 out of KTOA in the 80's. I've owned a PA-28 140 in the and was a half owner in a '56 C-310. Currently living in Orlando, FL. Renting ttill I define my mission. I'm not quite sure my wife likes GA. My full time job is driving a MD-11 for a charter airline.
  18. There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are very few old, bold pilots.
  19. I used to live in Sarasota. FFT doesn't rent to non flight training students any more. Thanks.
  20. Quote: flight2000 http://www.hartzellprop.com/top_prop_details.php?id=104 Looks like $8100 Anyone know what the current price is for the Top Prop conversion? I'd call Hartzell, but it would be an expensive call. Thanks, Brian
  21. Anybody know of a Mooney for rent in Florida. Closer to Orlando the better. John
  22. Yes, I rented and instructed in a Turbo Arrow. It was a nice plane to fly. All of the issues were with the engine. The TSIO 360 demanded some care in operation. During the same period of time, I flew both the M20K (231) and the Turbo Arrow. Don't remember exact numbers both the Mooney was faster.
