  1. IF you need to change your VR to a Zeftronics, it may be an R15300 or an R1530B. Difference between the two is the 4 pin plug. If you are replacing an OECO (larger metal plug), it will be a B. Check which one you currently have and use the crosscheck table in the zeftronics site before ordering
  2. If you look at the curriculum, I m not sure that would shorten the time that much . A bigger issue in my opinion is the availability of A&P schools. How many will make the effort to drive 2 hours+ for 2 years or so to get an A&P ? (online is not an option, maybe some of the curriculum could be) Another (already mentioned) is that A&Ps had rather go to airlines for better pay and benefits and less liability or to other companies where their trade/skill is very valued (transit companies, auto , elevators ...)
  3. curious where you read that
  4. there should be already be clamps to route current wire (strobe light for example) Can't you use those to add a wire ?
  5. sorry to hear about this. Changing the engine mounts is actually not an easy task (not to be done by an apprentice) but doable without damaging the footwell. They likely try to force the donut and used the footwell as support for a lever. my learning from your writing is that it may is not always a good idea to have too many cooks in the kitchen (an oil filter needs to be fully installed and safety wired, not just placed then leave it for someone else to torque and for another one to safety wire - unless you have a huge "flag" there for the work to be finished)
  6. in the Garmin manuals , there is usually a table for each connector that describes each pin and if it inputs or outputs signal
  7. agree on all 3 points. with windmilling and fuel flowing, an engine is easy to start. The selector needs to cooperate at all time.
  8. I am not saying it has something to do with the engine failure. Likely it does not.
  9. just curious why you wanted to run one tank dry for a 650nm route.
  10. not sure the battery connection has a standard connector you can find at Home Depot to charge it
  11. remove the G5 , take it home and make a D-sub connector to turn it on and charge it once in a while of course , you may need a pitot static leak check after that
  12. just get the ASA test prep book and test kit
  13. definitely not worth it
  14. the RC Allen 2610 or the UAvionics AV20 or 30 could be a basic / easy to install attitude backup
  15. This look like a homemade bracket. EricJ has a picture of the bracket for the dual mag, and this is what it should look like for 2 mags:
