Thanks guys... I have to go next week, week after at the latest. I'll keep holding out until the last minute. Jimmy

Are implying that he actually works?

Anyone going from S. Texas to S. Florida anytime soon or need a plane moved that direction? I have a bunch of avionics parts that need to go to Ft. Lauderdale and I would prefer they not be shipped. Any ideas? Thanks, Jimmy

You know the 'Little old lady who only drove the car to church on Sundays'? Well almost. This is my Mother-in-Law's car and she is not longer able to drive. So we have been driving it lately, but it is time to let it go. 2009 Lexus LS-450 with about 32,000 miles on it. Very clean, no damage, always garaged... Looking to trade for a plane with a retail value in the mid-30's. Can add or take some cash if the values don't match up. Send me a pm if you have an interest.

Nobody called Jimmy. Jimmy has been flying for two days and then closing a sale today. Jimmy replied as soon as he had his first opportunity, with a contribution to the repair. If that doesn't work for you, bring the plane back over and I will have Ron replace it at no charge. I regret that you are not a satisfied client. Good luck to you in the future...

Engine stalls during turns while taxiing
jgarrison replied to David Mazer's topic in General Mooney Talk
Have experienced this on many Continental engines. Especially the 252. Dont recall it happening on a Lyc. Happened to me just today on an Ovation. -
Just my thoughts. C-41 and KFC/KAP 200 compare head to head. I believe one is probably modeled after the other (C-41 designed to compete with K-200). The KAP-150 is a more modern autopilot than the 200 or the 41. Probably the better comparision to KAP/KFC-150 is the Century 2000. You don't see many 2000's, but they are pretty good autopilots. From a value standpoint, the Century is a smidge less, just because it says Century on the face and not King. From a function standpoint, I think about identical. Agree on A/P Central in Tulsa. They can fix just about anything. As long as you don't need it this month.

Factory LB engine is 40K+ from Van Bortel, in the box. Would expect that the final price, including prop will run $50K. We are currently doing a Bravo Engine, everhything in front of thefirewall, including prop, hoses, mounts, all accessories, complete for $40K including labor for overhaul and R&R. I would think that this engine could be overhauled complete for 75% of that, including prop, maybe a little more to upgrade to an LB (throttle body change). You have to shop your parts and know a little bit about what you are doing. But a DIY guy could realisticly have this plane with overhauled engine and prop and some cosmetic fixup and be in it under $100K. Thus the reason for posting it here and getting the conversation started.

Will consider some trades on it. The plane has been flying regularly for the last 7 years, well over 100 hours per year. Came in on trade.

Hey, Don! Henderson is way better than North Las Vegas. Way better. The two airports in the US that I dislike going into more than any other are North Las Vegas and Deer Valley.

Mitsubishi Lien on '68 M20C
jgarrison replied to jgarrison's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
We have always used AeroSpace. They don't miss anything. Even ownership as implied by ancillary paperwork. It is a paint in the butt, sometimes because they are so strict in making sure everything is in order back to day one. But, the alternative of buying with a loose report and then selling to someone who has a bank that uses someone to the level of Aerospace can spell problems to the extent that a sale is jeopardized. -
Mitsubishi Lien on '68 M20C
jgarrison replied to jgarrison's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
The lien was from 1968. Got it resolved. Would be nice to see the info that you refer to, but I didn't know that the FAA ever purged a file without having the proper paperwork. I was just working on another purchase and an old lien came up on that plane. The owner had also purchased a title policy for $400 something when he bought the plane. He told me about it and sent me the title search. Five minutes later, I had the lien holder on the phone and negotiated a settlement with him for less than the cost of the title policy. 5 minutes worth of google research solved the issue. Most liens are easy to cure, but you have to be a bulldog about getting to the right person. I can handle most of them myself. But there are times when my title company, who has a guy who clears liens, is worth his $250 fee. Some liens I just dont have the patience or energy to track down. -

Thanks for all the suggestions. Found the paperwork that someone had forgotten to process way back when. -

Mitsubishi Lien on '68 M20C
jgarrison replied to jgarrison's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Thank you for the information. I have actually cleared many liens on planes in the past, usually from banks. Although occasionally challenging, bank liens are usually easy to get done once the chain of ownership for the bank is established, as many banks have gone through one or more ownership changes. Even got the federal gub'ment to lend a hand in clearing one last year from a bank that was liquidated by the FDIC. It was a real challenge and even involved the threat of a US Congressman getting involved, but we got it done. The problem with this one is that the plane was one of many Mooneys that Mitsubishi took a lien on when they were in a partnership with Mooney. My understanding is that there are others who have seen the same issue before and have successfully cleared the lien with Mitsubishi. Before I jump in and try to navigate an massive international corporation which may or may not be the same legal entity that existed in 1968, I was hoping that someone on this list might have a contact at Mitsubishi who would be sympathetic -
Sorry if this has been discussed in the past. I know I am not the first to run into this, but there is an old Mitsubishi lien on a plane that I just bought. I heard that there are some out there who have successfully had the liens from Mitsubishi released. Does anyone have a contact anywhere that can help me get this done quickly? I bought the plane with the back-up plan of parting it out, so if it doesn't sell because of the lien issue, I am okay. But it is the cleanest orginal airframe that I have seen in forever (seats are original but look nearly new, plastic is near perfect, wing is near perfect, no issues on the plane at all as far as I can tell). My preference is to resell it as a plane because it is so nice, but if I can't get the paperwork cleaned up, I may part it out. Thanks for your help, JG

KLN-94 Color IFR GPS (slide in for a KLN-89B)
jgarrison replied to jgarrison's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
Sold on Ebay. Thanks for looking -
This is a trial balloon for the pre-advertising question presented earlier. This is what I have in mind. We have a nice 1978 M20J with Apprx. 2975 TT and 1175 SMOH coming on line in a few days. Has the KFC-200 autopilot which is rare in the '78 model, so it has HSI, Flight Director and glide slope coupling which did not become semi-standard until a few years later. Equipped with G-430W, GTX-330 (with TIS), MX-20, PSE audio panel and WX-1000 stormscope. Has a JPI and a Shadin. Paint is 12 years old and modern scheme, supposed to be in good condition. Interior is Maroon Leather, older but recently attended and supposed to be good. Compressions are good. Main discs replaced 2011. Maxwell annual 2011. 2012 annual was owner assisted annual. There was a prop strike right after the overhaul. Other than that, I don't know of any damage, but I haven't read all of the logs yet. Owner is a US Air Force pilot who is about to be shipped overseas so we are hoping to get his deal done in the next 10-12 weeks. If you have any questions, email me jimmy at allamericanaircraft dot com

This is a dulplicate post from the post I made under General Discussion and the poll that Seth created: Thanks for the poll. I just want to stress. I DO NOT want to make this a commercial endeavor. I am a big boy and pay a lot of money every year to advertise planes. I don't have to do this. I am also very reserved about my opinions and contributions (thoughts) to this forum or any other user forum. I do lay out MY opinions in MAPA on occasion, but they are to be taken by the reader as opionions, not as points of debate. This forum encourages debate and I am all in favor of furthering the knowledge of the fleet and its owners through civil debat. But I have watched other dealers and brokers get lambasted in the past for their opinions, on this site and others. Being in the profession and having an opinion rankles the crap out of some people. I don't have the time or the inclination to defend my opinions or argue the finer points of flying, servicing or selling Mooneys. And for that reason, I probably will continue to be an occasional spectator and not a contributor (although I have already contributed some money to the site, prior to some suggesting that I do so). I do not want to advertise here and only thought that maybe a pre-view may be beneficial to some members. When we have a hot one coming (which we do, two to be precise), I thought maybe some of the non-owner members of this list or those wishing to upgrade might appreciate a pre-view before a plane hits the market. Thanks again, Jimmy
