  1. That's my plane on page 4. King Radio bought the 79 J new and put all of their equipment in it. They did their STC certifications in it. Ended up with a KFC-150 and radar altimeter in it.

  5. I installed this unit on a 64E about 10 years ago. Reduced temps about 30 degrees. Didn't notice any speed difference.
  6. Unit was on a 64E. No damage. Pan is in Houston. Don't remmenber the manufacturer of the pan. $350. PM with inquires. Thx
  7. I traded up my Lightspeed XLC-25 for a Zulu. I traded up my wife's set for the Sierra. We can't tell any difference in the sound management. Both are light and very comfortable.
  8. Ready to buy a nice looking unit.
  9. The usual going price is about $1800. I would ask why the price appears to be a little bit high. The labor usually is about 3-4 hours.
  10. When I had a STEC 30 installed in my 64 M20E, I had the GPSS adapter installed with the system. Worked flawlessly, provided a higher level of precision in the operation of the plane. When I bought a 79 201J two years ago, it had a KFC-150 in it. First thing it went to the shop and had a GPSS adapter installed. Well worth the money!
  11. I had about 80 hours total when I bought my first Mooney, 1964 M20E. Also took about 30 hours to learn how to control the airspeed and the attitude in the flair. I must have sleep through that class! 15 years later and over 1100 hours Mooney and now in a 1979 201J, I have never regretted getting bitten by the Mooney bug! Very amazing aircraft!
  12. I have the 396 (same case size) for the MX weather interface. The Ram yoke mount does provide a lower position than the Garmin mount. Doesn't block any of the instruments.
  13. I am a CFI in the Houston area. I have owned the M20E for 13+ years and now have a 201. I can also provide Garmin, S-tec and King autopilot training. I can provide Mooney specific training at your convenience. Carl cell 281-799-8487
  14. Plan on being a new CFI in seven days! With over 1300 hours and over 1100 hours in 2 Mooneys (M20E Chapparal, M20J 201) I that I own, I am looking to "pay it forward" to new Mooney pilots! I am looking for a line drawing of a 201 (preferably) to put on my new business cards. JPEG or bitmap format (maybe others) would be fine. Thanks,
  15. Is there any restriction from powder coating the gear legs? Changing the donuts, so going to refinish the gear legs as well.
  16. Replacing side windows and windshield in '79 J. What sealant should be used? I think it is PRC something? Thanks,
  17. Quote: takair I notice many of you are using IPads or concidering using them. The certification office at work sent this to me. Note that this is a report through the NASA reporting system, so the details are not verified or validated by FAA. I have not used the IPad so I can not speak to it. Just hate to see anybody busted for an airspace violation. I could not figure out how to attach the PDF, so I found a link: http://www.nafinet.org/APPLE_IPAD_USED_AS_AN_EFB.pdf
  18. We're at Sports Fliers on the west side of Houston. You might want to look at the Vintage Mooney Group, the south central region for us. They do the $100 hamburger each month. http://vintagemooneygroup.com/index.htm
  19. Is there a Mooney caravan to Sun N Fun? We're in Houston.
  20. Concerns the account setup.
