  1. Another Aspen comming on line. After reading quite a bit I decide to go with the Aspen and sell off my HSI and related equipment. The shop I am using had a fellow interested in the HSI but now he is having second thoughts and thinking about an Aspen himself. Since my pannel has a KLN-90A non approach GPS I will be putting in a Garmin 430W at the same time. I'll try to sell off the 90A along with an Argus 3000 moving map to help recoup some more of the cost of the Aspen (not much, I know.) I'll also be selling off the King 155 radio. The shop has done Aspen installs and they just completed one on a 201 so I hope they have the estimate down fairly well. Attached are a pic of the current panel and a (bad) cut-n-paste of what I am thinking it will look like after the operation.
  2. I had a need to create a tiny url for the Lycoming 360 egine that I could place into a web form. Before I lost it from memory I figured I'd "store" it here. http://tinyurl.com/Lycoming360TCDS TYPE CERTIFICATE DATA SHEET NO. 1E10 Engines of models described herein conforming with this data sheet (which is a part of Type Certificate No. 1E10) and other approved data on file with the Federal Aviation Administration, meet the minimum standards for use in certificated aircraft in accordance with pertinent aircraft data sheets and applicable portions of the Civil Air Regulations/Federal Aviation Regulations provided they are installed, operated and maintained as prescribed by the approved manufacturer's manuals and other approved instructions. Type certificate holder Lycoming Engines, An Operating Division of AVCO Corporation Williamsport, Pennsylvania 17701 Type Certificate Holder Record Textron Lycoming transferred TC 1E10 to Lycoming Engines, An Operating Division of AVCO Corporation on December 17, 2003 ... etc.

  4. +1 for the Wash Wax All Degreaser (Got a starter kit and a gallon each Blue and Red for refills.) I happened to tackle this job today. After the degreaser and plenty of paper towels I followed up with the Wash Wax All Blue for some shine. A creeper would have mede the process much easier but an old sheet worked to keep my hair and back from polishing the hangar floor. I took time to get the wheel wells gear, and gear doors and am very happy with the results. PPG included glasses (might wear goggles next time), jump suit, and nitrile gloves. I can hardly wait to go get it dirty again. Carl
  5. What did you wind up buying? Were you able to get something local? I met a guy a couple doors down from my new hangar rental that uses the "Wash Wax ALL" product on his very clean RV-6 and swears by it. He buys it in gallon jugs and transfers it to a small spray bottle that he keeps with the aircraft. He's talked me into trying it.

  7. Quote: DonMuncy Well, I finally got my power tow finished. I now consider myself an expert on tow design, parts acquision, assembly etc. There are a few things I would change if I were doing it over, but it looks pretty good, is easy to maneuver, and works well (albeit slowly). If you are adept at welding and have lots of spare time, I highly reccommend the project. I'm very willing to share my problems and results. Don
  8. Looks like a couple of votes for Lexol. See also ILXLR8's response in http://mooneyspace.com/index.cfm?mainaction=posts&forumid=1&threadid=1443 <edit> added hyperlink </edit>
  9. Quote: jax88 I like to keep a couple of doors for those popular, high wing aircraft on hand (for obvious reasons)

  11. With the Long EZ, the tube was run out of the fuselage, down the rear gear leg, exiting via the wheel pants. All in all, fairly tidy. Remember to take a waterbottle full of vinegar to pour in after and keep things clean. As for an STC, I have not heard of one. You could start with a 337 and a friendly FSDO.
  12. Thanks Bob. Everything is still clean and nice - I just want to do what I can to keep it that way.
  13. $3.99 Self Service at KGKY (Arlington). (Hangar $215/month for a city hangar after a 5 year wait. I hear they're comming up faster now though.)
  14. Has anyone here used "Connolly Hide Care" for cleaning and conditioning their leather upholstry? What other products are you using? Anything a leather novice like me should stay away from? <meta name="keywords" content="leather, leather conditioning, leather cleaning, leather care" />

  17. It looks like the Flight Cheetah has similar functions as the 696 at about half the AMUs and much less in yearly subscription costs . I am seriously looking at it as a source of supplementary data. For an IFR IMS capable unit I have hope that the King 770 pans out now that it is certified. Maybe by the time I can afford it the King will have lot's of reviews and maybe even cause Big G to start lowering it's prices. < edit > Removed formatting < /edit > < edit > Changed IMS to IFR. Doh! Nobody needs an mainframe DBMS in their airplane. < /edit >
  18. Quote: flight2000 Thanks guys. One thing I didn't know they were going to do, (or could do for that matter) was wire in an MP3 jack in the back seat and below the co-pilots jacks (small hole below the normal one on the right side of the panel. It's an interesting feature with the PS8000B that allows the back seaters and front seater to listen to independant MP3 players at the same time. I can even listen in and have it cut off in my headset when radio calls come in. I love it. Brian
