  1. Interesting points. After looking at catalog and web literature this weekend I think I am leaning toward the PLB. I did not realize so many installed ELTs were destroyed in crashes. It seems that I survive an event like that with enough capacity to activate a PLB I should be okay. On the more morbid side, if I do not make it through the post event then distribution of my estate may be delayed while the search for the 121 MHz beacon takes place.
  2. What a great find, congratulations!
  3. Carl Stevens in Mansfield, TX (DFW area). I work for an aircraft manufacturer on the west side of Fort Worth. I have a PPL with instrument and glider ratings. I have lusted for a Mooney since I saw a 201 land at our flight school in '78. I bought a Long EZ in 1995 and love flying it. My current mission profile is VFR with a split between local fun flights and go igh, go fast cross country. Since my wife will not fly in "such a small airplane" I am considering a purchase of a Mooney. It seems to be about the only thing out there that matches what I want in terms of speed versus economy. Plus, they are just so darn good looking. I am spending a lot of time on controller, barnstormer, mooney specific broker/sales, and google. I am thinking now that a partnership will let me get into more airplane than I can afford myself. Looking forward to the research and the hunt. Carl
  4. I am going to replace my ELT with one of the new generation 406-MHz ELTs. Maybe my search keywords are just wrong but I ma having a problem finding reviews and articles on these. Lot's of adds but not much end user feedback. If you have or are condisering the change I sure would like to hear about some of your research and oppinions. Carl
  5. Quote: Mitch Here is some information regarding my wife's E model interior refurbishment, which I performed. ... The final product is most gratifying if you have the time and inclination to DIY. ...
