  1. Mine was an Embry Riddle trainer. It left their fleet at ~6400 hours and ended up in my posession with 6904 hours this February. No one working on it has found issues related to the high time on the airframe. It's coming up on 7100 hours. It was getting 1000 tach hours per year at ER. Are they using Piper Arrows now?
  2. Quote: LuvFlying Adding to that information... The plane has been for sale since at least June 14th. Looking at this... http://www.clearwateraircraft.com/802DW.html ...I'd be willing to bet that the reserve is darn close to 79,900 Also, if you google the tail number you'll also find some detailed history/evaluation for a loan for it a year ago.
  3. Quote: Amelia Parker, do you still have rudder pedal extensions you're looking to sell? What size are they, and how much do you want for them? Thanks!
  4. Quote: LFOD Parker, Im thinking the rocket would give you about 20 more knots then that. It would make sense to buy one with a non FIKI TKS just in case you happen to run into ice (wink wink) In fact, the only other rocket on the market is in Iowa and is just so equipped. Cost per mile? If I cared about that I would drive everywhere . I love the M20J, but it would not be the American way to be satisfied with what you have . Couple of more trips overseas and a Rocket becomes a possibility. I liked your video that was circulating on Facebook, BTW.
  5. Sweet plane, but if you're gonna upgrade for speed, I'd go for an Ovation or M20K (252 or Encore). You get the same speed (185+ KTAS) and you can get FIKI...which you and I would both like. In the mean time, you and I both know we have one of the lowest cost per mile airplanes out there...and much less expensive overhauls.
  6. Quote: mooney205kd I'm in at at anything less than what these coverted projector bulbs cost!
  7. Quote: KSMooniac oops! Parker...I've confused myself on this thread and just figured out you're talking about the forward-facing white lights and not nav/position lights! You are correct in that I have nav and strobe lights only, and I was confusing nav/position lights with recognition lights! Carry on with any STC attempts for LED upgrades...I'll post when I know more about their LED position/strobe combos.
  8. Quote: bmcmahan Anyone out there have troubleshooting approach for starter that turns slow at start. Barely will go over center at first. Engine generally starts on first turn, but it may take a couple of bumps to get it over center. Bill
  9. Quote: bmcmahan Hey, i'm new to mooneyspace. I am having a starting issue with my m20f and would like to find someone who might have ideas of what to do. Starter cranks slow at first, then speeds up once it's going. Bill
  10. Quote: KSMooniac Yes, I do. I have a strobe/recog light combo on my blunt wingtip, and the strobes are obsolete now, thus my desire to switch to something modern and the LED recog light + strobe combo unit is at the top of my wish list. It should fit in the same footprint that I have now.

  12. Quote: KSMooniac Yes, I'm interested. In fact, I talked to a Whelen tech guy just yesterday b/c I'm trying to source a strobe flash tube for my OEM (and extinct) Hoskins strobes and the subject came up.... Whelen is working on a broad STC right now that would cover many models including Mooneys, so you might want to talk with them first before spending any effort!
  13. A local A&P IA and myself are working on a potential STC for an LED and reflector assembly for the recognition lights on my 1990 M20J-AT. It would replace the bulb and reflector assembly that currently costs $135+ from Whelen. I had the idea after: 1) finding out how much these bulbs cost 2) getting a melted recog lens from the heat and wanting to operate these all the time. 3) wanting something brighter Considering that a bulb/reflector assembly costs ~$135+/side, would this modification interest you, and at what marginal cost?
  14. Quote: JimR How much weight did the starter downgrade cost you, Parker? What did you have and what did you go to? Jim
  15. Quote: mooney205kd Parker: 5KD's useful was 833lbs when we got it! GTOW increase and avionics upgrade has taken it to 1013lbs. Not bad!
  16. And FWIW, that's by far the lowest useful load (814lbs) I've ever heard of on an M20J. Prior to that it was a 1984 model with 845 useful.
  17. Quote: Cruiser I vote for A. But I hate red interiors.
  18. I'm saying plane A.
  19. Yeah I just forked over $135 for the left hand recog light/reflector assembly. Talking to an A&P about creating an STC for an LED assembly.
  20. Quote: fantom Maxwell can patch that for you, Parker.
  21. Quote: fantom Design and paint job look great, Scott. Encouraging to know you can get a very good job at a reasonable price. I think just having a smooth new paint job should give you an extra knot or two
  22. Maybe I'll see you at Maxwell's shop...Either this Friday or next I am taking my plane to him to get some squawks fixed on 9NS before I take it to the FSDO for my CFI ride.
  23. Great photos...nice plane...where did you end up getting the engine overhauled at?
  24. So if I bring it to the FSDO for my CFI checkride, will it require a field approval?
  25. Quote: LFOD Thanks guys, but I found a replacement. Bought some foldable cup holders that screw into the center console. I will most likely just use velcro.
