  1. Does anyone know what is involved and how much it would cost to convert my twist or press button then push vernier engine control to a more "traditional" vernier where twisting isn't required and the awkward pushing the button and pushing in also isn't required for takeoff roll? It's not a necessity, but I can't say I'm totally a fan of this setup. Maybe on a turbocharged aircraft, but not this one. But if it would only cost a couple hundred dollars to change, I wouldn't be opposed.
  2. Does anyone know why the right side of the cutout in the glareshield for the annunciator panel on the M20J always has a rise to it? What is under there that causes this and are there any known methods to fixing it? This is the one thing about this model that annoys me, especially now that I'm doing some flying from the right seat!!
  3. Quote: MooneyPilot231 few more.... My annual will never be done in June/July again!
  4. Hey, it took some time but you've got an airplane you're completely comfortable flying!! Great job!!
  5. Quote: iceman Parker, I called on this Mooney over a month ago. There are a two things about the plane that are driving the low price. 1)There are several instances of damage history 2)The TKS is non-FIKI. Just thought I would let you know.
  6. Quote: FlyDave Hi all, I'm looking at a plane that Willmar is selling and was wondering what experiences any of you have had with them. I Live in California so the purchase process might be different than what I've experienced in the past. Any words of wisdom are appreciated. Thanks,
  7. Matt, I've said it before and I'll say it again, you've got a sweet ride!! Thanks for the trip over the Rockies!
  8. Quote: N223MM What kind of anoyances are involved in repatriating a US build aircraft? Just curious. Carl
  9. 1987 Mooney 252 Other than the general annoyances of bringing an airplane down from Canada, I'd be all over this one if funds allowed. Turbo, FIKI, and a Garmin 430. Take out the deadweight LORAN and other crap that's in there, and you're in business.
  10. I'd consider selling mine to you at a discount depending on how much labor is involved in swapping them. My back left seat passenger could use a little more legroom...the fire extinguisher is already installed in front of/under the seat! The only thing I like about them is if I ever get a shorter student...
  11. I have no idea on the speed claims, but you'll enjoy faster shop work and less labor expense because of that. The MX guys over at Don Maxwell like it a lot.
  12. Quote: KSMooniac Parker, I don't know of any conversions...as Jim mentioned it would be quite pricey, and even if you were to salvage the center console bits and controls from a wrecked plane for free, it would require a lot of hours to install IMO. I lucked out getting into a J in the first place since I was shopping for an E or F...but my luck wasn't quite good enough to get into a '78+ to get the vernier controls and the better McCauley prop. Oh well.
  13. Why does the PDF online say something in the $18,000 range? Quote: mooney205kd As a reference, I got an email a while back for a Factory refurb for older interiors. They won't redo it in composite like the new birds, but will recover your Royalite in ultraleather, recover and foam your seats, redo your carpet, headliner, hat rack, and glareshield for (what they say is) cost. If you did everything they offer, it is around $10k. Price list for individual items and contact info below.
  14. Quote: KSMooniac Was the solution to send your existing cable to McFarlane and have them "duplicate" it? I've read that is the way to go. I have a quadrant in my J and wish I could easily swap for vernier/push-pull cables! I hate the thing...it is a knee-knocker and doesn't allow for very precise adjustments. Not to mention it is probably a pound or two of extra weight.
  15. Hmmm...the spar is one piece, correct?
  16. Quote: docket Parker, it is water out of the vents and almost all of it comes out of the vent where the hat shelf would have been. The most interesting thing is it actually spits out enough water to make the left rear window have water drops covering a pretty good area of the inside. Frankly, I can live with the water drops more than the fact that the thing ain't that cold right now. Right now the AC reminds me of an old Italian car I drove -- it works as long as you don't leave it in the sun and once the interior is hot the AC does very little. Eric
  17. Is it moisture that is in the form of water on your vents or is it moisture that looks like clouds are blowing out of your vents?
  18. Well I got a quote several months ago at ~400 TT and 2 hours in Mooneys for something like $1600 on a 231 and $1650 on a 201. Both were valued at between $90,000 and $95,000.
  19. Quote: mooney205kd No kidding?? You were the buyer, huh? Nice to meet you here. You would have had a solid bird with 5KD, but it worked out better for AAA and us that we remained her caretaker. You seen her lately? Check out the galleries here - she's looking good! Probably gonna get a factory interior before too long. That's one thing I LOVED about that Encore.
  20. Quote: Parker_Woodruff I posted a reply to a thread about M20G models and found that I have a different idenity. Who knew? RFB (SagemGuy)
  21. Quote: mooney205kd My partner and I have purchased 3.5 Mooneys from Jimmy (1/2 a Mooney???? - long story), and would not hesitate to recommend him. He will stand by his word. I'd be a little scared buying from anyone else. My $.02.
