  1. My prop gets dressed at every annual becausei it can't keep any of its clothes on!! But I don't think it ever got fully painted. Maybe it doesn't need to be.
  2. I was looking to get a black prop paint from Spruce. Will regular black paint in flat matte finish do the job or is prop paint special? Also I have found that regular cleaning of the blades does the trick.
  3. Yeah, the pics aren't the best. The cup holder is nice. It took me a while to find it. I was looking for two but couldn't find them small enough to fit neatly on the center console there. So I put one in. It is the smallest I found. The item is the AFI 20055. If you search you'll find it.
  4. I'm looking to swap out my landing light bulb with some sort of LED and while looking at it the other day a light went on in my head! (pun intended!) I'd like to ask opinions on it. What would be the harm, if any, and the feasability to add an additional landing light in the nose of my J? Right next to the existing one that is off center now on the other side of the RAM air hole. The results would be all good it seems. Double the amount of light and the nose would look nicely balanced. I don't care about the looks so much but they would improve. Do parts exist? Would it fit? Are there any issues with FAA? a 337 is probably needed I'm sure, and is it a good idea or not? Also I had my ADF taken out as part of the GTN 750 install. I have heard of people placing some sort of light where the ADF antenna was. Does anyone know what light can be put there and how it's wired? Thanks!
  5. Thank you. Yes I've been playing with the sim all along during the installation. I apologise for the low quality pics! I will be sure to post better ones next time! I took these as an after thought on my iphone in the hangar. Not ideal lighting conditions for pics! The GTN750 is indeed Garmin's best so far I think. Very ingenious to hide the transponder and audio panel and utilize the space where it counts... give us a bigger screen. Have you heard about the Flitecharts (from Garmin) are going to be georeferenced in upcoming updates!! (Chartview from Jepp costs 2.5K! ) Georeferenced approach plates. It is mentioned in the user's manual for the GTN750. That is going to be awesome as well.
  6. Did lots of flying yesterday and today. Put my GTN750 and KFC150 through their paces. Gave them a rigorous workout. I can summarize it all in one word. SWEET! Very very refreshingly SWEET! Extremely intuitive. In no time did I find myself heads down twisting knobs. The touch screen is impecable and precise. The keys are large enough and the finger rails are perfect making it an easy interface to use even in turbulence. The crisp display is an absolute joy to look at and very soothing to the eyes. The remote transponder and audio panel are there when you need them and gone when you don't. And 90% of the time they are not needed leaving the panel clean and uncluttered. I am extremely happy I waited for this product. Great job Garmin!
  7. Hey I'm no expert! This is why I take advice from experts! They also said that the panel must not be glossy and reflective. For obvious reasons. It must be matte finish. I like my black panel personally.
  8. Advice I was given by my avionics installer, who by the way is extermely reputable and highly experienced, was DO NOT powder coat the panel. It is very difficult if not impossible, to match the color later if you make any changes to your panel. Also it doesn't look good when you will be looking at it upclose and personal all the time while flying. It will look like it has a permanent dust on it. Powdercoating is a process good for the landing gear maybe that we don't look at all the time but NOT the instrument panel. They recommend painting it using a good panel paint. They utilize a Dupont product. I forget the details on it.
  9. Who is the insurance underwriter?
