  1. "Fat absorbs noise. When I have my wife, her sister and niece onboard they don't bother to use headsets. They just gossip and then fall asleep." Oh, José, I wouldn't touch that line with somebody else's ten-foot pole!
  2. The 430W is sold. Inasmuch as I wholesaled it ($6700), I wish someone here had started a conversation. I'd like to have sold it to a Mooney owner.
  3. My avionics shop tested it before I got the airplane back. Registration is on line and straight forward.
  4. N414MS is in the process of receiving her Christmas present, a new Garmin 650, and I'd like to sell the 430W I'm removing. Asking $7000, with a yellow tag. tray, antenna. Please PM me, and I'll respond to your e-mail if you include a phone number. UPDATE: The 430W has been removed and is in perfect condition, no scratches, etc. The avionics shop did the yellow tag. The GPS comes with the tray, new antenna (we kept the old one on the airplane since it had no issues) and all the connectors. I can negotiate price.
  5. Might look at https://www.superbrightleds.com/search/led-products/T1-3%204/.
  6. Epic LT or the Epic E1000 when it is certificated.
  7. Nice report. You've drawn a good word picture of the effects of your replacement, and that is a real help for those of us considering a similar change. Thanks.
  8. The 930 on my 231 when I bought it was set at the factory before it was shipped. The times have to be set by JPI; I wanted to re-set the Hobbs time and was told I had to sent it to them. I'd be very interested to hear if they send you the PDF instructions. Please let me know. I do not know about the RPM figure.
  9. Come on, Bodie. That's the smell of money (and future chicken-fried steak).
  10. Just ate last week at the new cafe at the new Dalhart (KDHT) terminal. The cafe hasn't been open very long but had a good breakfast and a tasty looking lunch menu. The pies looked really good, and the locals recommend them. Didn't look to me like the terminal had been open very long, either; it is really nice.
  11. If you want to take the time, try using what the automobile detailers use, the clay block. Maguires sells a kit for $19 +/-, and, while it takes time, it works wonders without taking off the paint. I've done my 321 with it, and I really liked the results.
  12. Call Don Maxwell. He had the one for the cabin door, and they look suspiciously the same.
  13. 81 M20K, $100K hull, $1 million smooth, $1282
  14. Greg-- I'm just down the road from you in Taos, NM. Had a really nice "J" model until last July, when I purchased a "K" model. Having flown both at 7109', I don't think I'd go back to the non-turbo model. So far, the maintenance hasn't been any worse than before, but it'll be more expensive when the turbo needs work. On an equivalent day here, the difference in climb out is 400-500 fpm for the "J" versus 1100 fpm for my "K".
  15. I had this happen on my J some time back. You can remove the door and send it to Don Maxwell for repair. When he was done, I flew to GGG, he replaced them, and he adjusted them to factory specs. I was really pleased with the work they did. Pretty inexpensive.
  16. I don't remember what the aviation equivalent of Vaseline is, but I understand, position or no position, it doesn't work very well. My avionics guy says $716 + installation.
  17. When it rains, it pours. The yoke-mounted trim switch for my KFC200 is not working on the up-trim side. I think it is time to replace the 13-year-old original. Anybody have one? I think the nomenclature is p/n 200-01902-0002.
  18. I'd like one also. The little "handle" on mine is coming off, making it tough to remove.

  20. FlyWalt-- Is Camguard approved for turbocharged engines yet? The last time I looked, the approval was "pending."
  21. Byron-- I'd be interested in one of each.
  22. Yves-- Take a look at New Mexico. Bendix-King and Eclipse are in Albuquerque. There are any numbers of software companies here that support the defense industry.
  23. Scott said, "Look up Parker Woodruff here...former 252 owner that lives in Texas and loved in Florida. Your perfect candidate." I never read that into Parker's times in Florida. TMI.
  24. Andy-- Check your PMs.
