  1. Own all of Mooney or part of Mooney? It's hard to understand how the membership program will work. It seems if you're AOG, you could just pay the membership to jump ahead of the line of the non-members and cancel. You may as well call it a rush fee.
  2. The cost of saving the company likely outweighs the decrease in value of the fleet. Let's say we can waive a magic wand and everyone in the fleet invest the appropriate amount of money in LASAR to "save the fleet", I'd still think it's a bad investment. We'd be better off waiting like sharks for the bankruptcy and taking the company then. I haven't seen anything from LASAR to lead me to believe they can competently accomplish what I'll call a merger. The current LASAR is not the old LASAR that many depended on and loved. A better plan would have been for Mooney to start factory annuals, paint jobs, etc. Get the business going and providing for itself; the facilities are there and sit unused. How hard would it have been to partner with a painter and make it a win/win? There were plenty of low cost solution to enhance and help the business instead of continuing to dig a financial hole.
  3. I saw a video that mentioned subscription from the September Tampa event. This is last minute thought for MooneyMax.
  4. I guess I'll do the right thing and become a gold member; I'll just give up my hangar to make up the cost difference I wonder how many people will sign up... this will make me less likely to purchase anything from LASAR when I don't have to, not that they've replied to my emails when I've tried to order. Sigh. Maybe they could have done basic professionalism for $100 a month.
  5. I took mine to a local upholstery shop. I left the foam alone because I had no issue with comfort. $3,000 for all seats in leather with burn certificates; he's used to doing airplane stuff because the local shops send work to him.
  6. My CFI has a fancy monitor and used it a couple times in my airplane. It's always read zero and being in FL, even with door open.
  7. Were the tanks resealed or patched? If its a full reseal, who did the job? A fuel reseal should not have any particulate left over and the sealant should not be coming loose. On a patch job, risk increases depending on how it was done. Either way, I wouldn't think it would result in an immediate shut down but a gradual loss of power as some fuel should still be pushing through the system.
  8. I saw a video from Tampa's money event where Lasar mentioned subscriptions but didn't offer any details. What do we know about their subscription model?
  9. I have an expired class 2, valid class 3. For my last medical, I ended doing a 4 hour medical exam ... I was out of town and picked the only Dr. that had availability since I had never tried to game the system with easy Dr. I plan to go to basic med for my next one. I don't want to subject myself to the whim or a Dr. and be forced to accept any test thrown at you. Once you start, if you don't complete the medical, it's considered a denial. As a result, I spent 4 hours there. The Dr. indicated that he just came back from a seminar and the FAA wanted them to give throughout exam and would send undercovers to check compliance... I'm not buying that the FAA has the resources to do that but I also don't want to be poked and prodded for 4 hours without the ability to say enough. Basic med is way simpler and give the patient more control; it's also likely covered by insurance.
  10. You'd think it would be easy to sell the most in demand parts that have long lead times, like an intake boot... I just don't think Mooney/LASAR have it as easy as people think. While it appears from the outside they could be managed better, I also believe that they have people who are doing the best they can.
  11. Thank you for that titbit; I didn't know a single source had raised that much.
  12. I suspect you can picture that in your mind and see how the fuel travels through the system enabling you to think through what needs to be done. Some people do not have that capability and it's not a knock on them; people process information differently. Some people need to rely on the if/then logic and need to follow the checklist.
  13. Beechcraft has a better owner group than we do. They are organized and pooled their money to offer over $500,000 to a company could would produce new ruddervator below certain price point.
  14. After ordering various edge seals, the one that works best is from Amazon. The color will match the seats so it all looks intentional. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B8RRPVZT?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1
  15. 135KIAS at 10,500 is ~160KTAS... I'd like to see those speeds out of my J (and like the C you're flying, I don't have the lower gear doors).
  16. I got the front and back out by myself; I think you could re-install by yourself but I'll get another set of hand to make it easier/lessen risk to making mark on the new paint.
  17. Time to get back at it. If the window edge trim/beading that I ordered doesn't work, this may be a source. https://www.harfington.com/collections/u-shaped-sealing-strips-c-301896?pickers=%7B%7D&cateId=301896&isFilterSoldout=1 I was ready to install the overhead console as they are painted but I realized the paint is not quite right. There is what I can best describe as shadows in it so I bought a quart of paint and will see if I can do better with a spray gun than rattle cans. Thankfully the paint shop was able get the supplies needed this morning and made me a quart. The carpet was supposed to be here before the end of September... hopefully it gets here this week. I have no significant out of town travel plan over the next two weeks and I'd like to get this across the finish line. It's been too long!
  18. If QAA is going to pay for the teardown, I'd want that in writing before I turn over any evidence to anyone.
  19. I wanted to buy one as my first car but once my mother heard Porsche, it was swiftly ruled out. Back then you could get a rust free 914/6 for very little money. My argument that it was just like a WW Beetle was ineffective.
  20. What's going on with your interior? I'm in the process of doing mine and the interior plastic can be repaired and repainted.
  21. I look at trade a plane regularly; it's a great way to pass the time when I'm waiting. There are more airplanes Mooney on the market and prices are lower. The peak was April 1 of last year, which is when I bought my airplane; the bottom will be when I sell. There have been a few airplanes that have sold very quickly over the past 6 month; some of them were incredible steals (including someone who needed to raise cash ASAP for his business). It seems most of the softness is toward the nicer airplanes which is interesting when interest rates are going down and credit has not been an issue.
  22. Jaeger no longer sells it; they've lost their supplier. Vantage has some and this MM Seal looks to be an option https://mmseals.com/collections/edge-trim/products/gray-edge-trim-standard-size-u-extrusion-u-height-17-32-grip-range-3-64-9-64
  23. I replaced the windlace in the baggage compartment area today; it was much easier than I thought (and that's without having the old one to match the cut/hole placement). I also re-installed the overhead piece in the baggage area so I got a first view at the colors and I'm very happy with the color combo. I'm glad to have gone a custom color (even if I means waiting a few weeks to get the last piece painted because the shop ran out of on ingredient). The only downside is that it will show dirt much easier. I'm leaving town tomorrow morning for a week so no more progress but it gives me time to order a few odds/ends I didn't expect to be issues like the window beading.
  24. I'm told Vinyl paint will work; I'm suspicious as well which is why I ordered a sample. I plan to give it some overlap to address shrinkage since I'm installing in FL where it's HOT!
  25. I have a sample coming in for paint from them. I've also stopped at a couple auto supply stores and not found anything that works. After more calls to Jeager, I was able to talk to someone. They no longer have a supply and have been working on trying to find a new supplier.
