  1. Every country is different. My Chinese colleagues get stunned by the fact that private citizens can own and operate small airplanes. One of them sheepishly asked "how long does it take you to gather all the necessary permits for one flight?" I said "I can fly from here to California without ever talking to anybody." How much truly does the GA weigh on the entire ATC costs? Of the 9bln ATC cost, how much do our 100,000 turbo bugsmashers weigh in? Mind you, I don't enjoy getting flight followings and talking to big brother. I do that to not be a pest. If you say no public money should be spent on GA, then I'll find tons of venues where my taxes are spent on - which I don't care about and deem to be a total waste. Good. Let's kill GA. And have all the people working in&around GA collect government welfare. That's why we can't have good things. To quote Sage from "The Boys" who said "I could cure cancer, reverse global warming, but what's the point? Humans are animals. And the lines at Voughtland are too long as it is." https://the-boys.fandom.com/wiki/Sister_Sage
  2. Well, then maybe this bill isn't going to hurt just us 0.1% lucky bastards who own fancy toys. It will mean that each and every live&love&laugh dude and gal out there will pay more to travel, while their taxes do not drop. How about we release this insight to the social media and let the algorithms do their thing?
  3. Wouldn't this bill mean that ALL airline tickets will get more pricey? Taxes for sure won't come down.
  4. @MikeOH seconded.
  5. The problem is not whether it's comfortable or painful... The real problem is what if you like it...
  6. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pdf/edm830manual.pdf It contains all the answers
  7. Anything but do it right.
  8. Technically you are right but you cannot sacrifice airworthiness for comfort... Stuff needs to match. Think about the next owner and his mechanic. Or even the A&P who is allegedly supervising OP's work (as I assume the OP is not one and this is not preventative maintenance)... JPI connectors come pre-built and the wires have labels printed on them at every 6 or 12 inches. If the wires were labeled only at the tips or if those labels could be modified, then yea, go ahead and swap the labels also while swapping the bits in the configuration. That would be an easy fix without going through the PITA rerouting... But having an instrument pinout that does not match connector pinout or the wiring labels or the connected instruments... C'mon man, it's just hairthin thermocouple wire. Just reroute it. We're not talking about girthy oil cooler hoses...
  9. The labels on the wires would still not match the pin out...
  10. The wires are labeled all throughout. Just rewire them in the engine compartment. Their end terminals connect to the thermocouple ring terminals by screws. Plus, if you do a swap in sw to fix a swap in hardware, c'mon that's clumsy. Not unlike anybody doesn't object to not avoiding double negatives.
  11. Sometimes when you're just so lucky, the holes in the bolt and engine case line up... Reducing your working time from 4hrs to 1.5 (cowl off to cowl back on time) You thank your favorite deity for this treat, ask for forgiveness for all the swear words you invented the other times, especially when the bolt hole was between 12 and 6 o'clock and buy a lottery ticket while your luck is still glowing, and go home before wife goes to sleep to spread the joy. Otherwise, it really is a RPITA. (Royal PITA)
  12. @redbaron1982 thanks. I'll give it a shot.
  13. No, the way R's leg separates is different.
  14. No, the capital G doesn't match. 1451 has rounded bottom right corner. The panel font is square.
  15. Hi, What's the font used for these markings? Whatthefont app returned Mad Cash. Does anyone know for sure? Is that correct? Thanks.
  16. Hi, are you still making them? Thanks
  17. Hey, I need a very little quantity of Sherwin Williams Acry Glo Khaki #07477 for a small job (repainting the Lasar cowl closure) and a couple touch up jobs here and there. Anyone want to sell/donate 2-3 oz (50-100mL)? Alternatively, has any of you been successful in finding a very close match among commercially available paints like Behr, Rustoleum, etc etc.? Thanks in advance.
  18. I have 2 pockets already. One on the pilot side and the other on the spar wall behind the johnson bar. Copilot (wife) said that she doesn't want one on her side rubbing against her legs. "The plane is not roomie as it is." This remark actually chimes with the other thread that demonizes airline travel and exalts Mooney time... However, I am proud of the glovebox. Way better way to make use of the space than a simple panel patch.
  19. Thanks a lot!!! I made one that goes into the hole freed up from the garwin's 3x4" opening. I could only go in 6" because it's on the edge of the panel and I have a steel structural rod and the curvature of the fuselage on the right side limiting the depth. I had to tilt the front face by 7* to clear the steel beam and gain an extra inch. When the plane sits parked, stuff lie flat. Side and top walls butt against the back of the panel but the bottom wall sits on the hole opening. So the box cannot slide out like avionics. It gets installed from forward of the panel. I painted the inside the same color as the fuselage. The lid is wider than the opening (for esthetics) so it gets screwed on the hinge. My buddy has a laser etch machine so he'll make a design similar to yours after the summer. I showed him your picture. I'll also paint the new lid the exact same color as the panel.
  20. Thank you! I love how they made the cover. That's really neat.
  21. Hi, I decided to rephrase my question. What models have factory original glove boxes? What are their dimensions? The depth? What do the covers look like? I've seen a couple online but didn't like them. I hope there were more variations. I have a hole from the old garwin instrument cluster which I might repurpose into a glove box. Thanks.
  22. Man, I wish I saw this thread before you asked your company. That's a great no go. Way back, at a previous employer, the admin lady was actually enthusiastic to get me flying and she inquired with the the purpose of making it work. The obstacles were 1) need 2nd pilot even in a single pilot plane 2) need some sort of insurance add on. Apparently it qualifies as charter and regular corporate insurance that covers airlines don't cover that because corporate insurance subrogates onto the airlines' insurance policy. Some people just fly and claim mileage. Their verbal agreement with the boss is that if they crash, well they called in that day. I think that can "fly" in a small company... Definitely not in corporate...
  23. i have one. It's been overhauled recently. Pm me
  24. Hi, I'm about to remove a 4cyl JPI EDM 700. I PMed you. Thanks.
