  2. Is this configuration robust against an alternator fail at take-off? That's when the battery is at its lowest.
  3. Just turn off the alternator field in flight and you'll read the actual current draw instantly .

  8. While you're here: how can I verify the requirements for an overflight? All this time I've thought just a valid ICAO flight plan would suffice, but I just want to double check. In Europe (at least 15 years go) we had to note the citizenship and ID number of each occupant on the flight plan. Should I still get a customs decal, in case an occupant needs to use the bathroom urgently? It won't hurt to bring our passports with us. Thanks.
  9. Uhm, what is it? Variable weights? Cg? Insufficient hatrack floor? I wasn't asking you to settle on an option. Especially after I disproved the one reason you have been defending all this time (cg). Reread the ballast, gfc servos, 406 elt. I think the ballast was 40lb at the empennage. Pretty big moment. It's very simple. The plane can handle more weights aft of that station. So it's not a CG issue. The hatrack is suitable for ejecting its content, that's why they prescribed soft items and limited their weight. Given the low weight, they saved on the hatrack floor to make it lightweight because it should not carry heavy stuff.

  11. There's an stc to put skis that far back. Some mooneys require ballast at the empennage hinge. I really don't think it's a cg issue. The floor of the hat rack is not truly robust, from how I see it but did they really test it for the max g forces? Who knows. However they did care to mention the soft loads. That's proof enough into what they were thinking.

  14. Of course if you are keeping your 9.9lb toolbox in there, you pretty much deserved it. I keep soft stuff, like roll of paper shop towels, head pillows, beach towels, etc. So, yea, those objects hitting me would be the least of my problems in a crash. I also keep a box of AA and AAA batteries, but the boxes are thinner than the height of ledge, so I am wishfully assuming that they would be secured in a rapid deceleration.
  15. In case anyone is interested, vtpcs are not separate documents. Niagara vtpc is 2 pages in the Ontario vfr supplement.
  16. Because it's not secured (no tie down or door) and whatever's there will become a projectile in case of a crash.
  17. Is there an stc to expand the luggage compartment aftward? There is some usable space if one removes the sidestep. I think it'll be easier to fit 1 or 2 foldable bikes in that case, even if the "hole" will have to clear the battery.

  20. In Europe they follow the tbo schedule like our part 135. Offsets the shortage of FAA certificated mechanics.
  21. Nice! M20p and m20t are the only options. Also in US, we're supposed to use P and T. Piston or turbo. They don't care about our petty fights between C models and J models
  22. Hi, I tried to calculate navcan fees using their web page and choosing m20p as aircraft type between KMBS Saginaw MI and Buffalo, NY. It returned 0. Is overflight really free of charge? Thanks EDIT: ADDITIONAL QUESTION: Anyone know where I can get the Niagar Falls VTPC? There are youtube videos that explain the procedure (which is fairly simple) but ... not really airworthy data. Where can I just download/purchase this supplement? Thanks.
  23. I just realized the manual 203 dated 1976 covers my plane and the shaft pn are 720005-1 whereas the sb20-205 addresses 710005- numbers. What am I missing?
