Tasteless Joke of the day.

Tasteless! She who must be obeyed would give me "the look" and a tongue lashing if she knew of its existence. -

My Hartzell prop (HC-C2YK1BF) was overhauled four years ago, so I'm doing a little research on next steps. I called Memphis Propeller yesterday, http://memphispropeller.com/propellers/ Basically, asking about everything they offer. Got the following quotes: Eddy current $179 if I bring in the prop. $233 if I fly in to Olive Branch, MS and they do the test on with the prop on the plane. IRAN $1350 Overhaul $2245 New hub to remove AD: $4165 New Hartzell Prop lists $11,320 but they can probably sell for $10,200.

Circumnavigate the USA
Skydancer2992 replied to MooneyDreamer's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Use the Reader's Digest Most Scenic Drives in America to plot some of the sites to see by air. I recommend adding Monument Valley to your itinerary as there is a nice airfield with a hotel, all run by the Navajo Nation. When I went to Oshkosh, I'd carry the pet tiedowns that look like a giant cork screw, and screw them into the ground. They used to be a dollar each at the Dollar Store. -
Before Mike Busch, Light Plane Maintenance was an excellent resource for DIY maintenance for the plane owner. I reread these periodically. Every A&P I've shown these to, wants them.

Baggage compartment lock cylinder
Skydancer2992 replied to Seagrove Bob's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
My camper keys for my motorhome cabinets open up both doors on the Mooney and several file cabinets at my geology club. They won't start the Mooney. I may stash a few of them outside the plane, just in case. -

How about pull rivets? Or Invert the doubler so that it is external. It will hang down an extra inch or so. -

#3 Cylinder runs very hot after overhaul
Skydancer2992 replied to Greg Ellis's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Any chance the cylinder is running leaner than the other cylinders? A leak in the intake system, or something that will cause uneven dispersion of the air/fuel mixture? The August Kitplanes, the editor had an overheating cylinder, #4 on a Glassair. Lean cylinder. He tracked it down to the carb heat flapper not fully closing. -

Fresh air vent door on plane top - OOC? M20E
Skydancer2992 replied to Skydancer2992's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Mine is 1964, #303. The bottom lip of the door doesn't let me pull it complete open, like in the writeup. I ordered the wire and it arrived. Now to find the time. -

This post has a good writeup. Thanks! From CarolinaFlying Posted August 2, 2017 It has been a few years, but I used @rogrbal instructions above to complete my project. I added photos to his instructions with his permission and my comments are added in red. Hopefully this helps your next project if you have a similar problem! The manufactured cost is the main takeaway from this product. It gives an idea of the potential profit that Lord and its distributors are partaking. Most likely, the disk in this add is a generic product, manufactured in the millions. This particular dealer is selling the disk for the cart bumper application. Some may be prejudiced by that application. As far as this donut, locating the manufacturer and obtaining test data would help determine the whether it's physical characteristics are similar to those of the original Firestone or the later Lord disks. -

What's interesting is that Vans aircraft sells the Lord Shock Discs as they are part of the nose gear system of their kit planes. https://www.vansaircraft.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/RV-14_40A.pdf
