Looking at screw type jack stands now. For $61, a screw pipe jack. Quite the bargain. Modify two of them by cutting off the V. https://www.vevor.com/roller-head-pipe-stand-c_10836/pipe-stand-fold-a-jack-v-head-pipe-capacity-12-height-20-37-2500-lb-steel-p_010585290868 " About this item Heavy Duty V-Head: The pipe stand with a durable V-head is suitable for the pipe size of 1/8 to 12 inches (0.32 to 30.48 cm). The Meyer jacks are a $1065 each at ATC. https://www.aircraft-tool.com/detail?id=A521 or slightly less at Spruce https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/meyershydra.php There is a cheaper jack at Spruce $451 but it seems to have leakage issues after a few years. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/topages/alphaJacks.php -
With an annual in the foreseeable future, what are people using for jack stands? I was considering something like this:

Scotty Kilmer has a trick for checking cylinder compression and fuel pump operation using a graphical multimeter. Should work on an airplane motor and pump. Might be worth carrying in a plane kit. The one he is using: https://www.ebay.com/itm/353314765737

Variable valve timing allows auto engines to become smaller while developing more power and gas efficiency. Fuel injection and computerized timing, same. Now, auto engines are Atkinson cycle (Prius and Honda hybrids), with an extended power time but shorter exhaust or intake. Toyota has introduced truck engines that are Otto cycle during acceleration and revert to Atkinson during cruise. NOx environmental controls have the opposite effect, forcing the engine to run at a cooler and less efficient/less power mode. This is where VW cheated, by tuning for power/efficiency when the engine was not in a test mode. The mod market for 4X4 and street rods also over-ride this "feature".

Society of Aviation and Flight Educators offers 1/3 off Foreflight. Costs $48 to be a member of SAFE. My understanding is that any interested party may join SAFE. "One huge benefit for SAFE members is the 1/3 off ForeFlight. The really excellent feature of this is that it can start immediately (even if you just signed up or renewed ForeFlight). This is because when you validate your SAFE membership and discount, ForeFlight refunds your remaining days, then applies your 1/3 off discount, and resets your “anniversary date.” What this means is there is not reason (or incentive) to wait to sign up for SAFE! Do it right now and start saving! Here are the steps (simple and easy!) Go to http://foreflight.com/SAFE and enter your (registered) e-mail. (It takes a few days after signing up for SAFE membership for the database to update and if it does not recognize you please be patient) But hopefully it says it “sent you an e-mail.” When you go here and click the “Confirm Your Email” box:" And so on.... https://www.safepilots.org/2019/05/13-off-foreflight-start-saving-immediately-how-to/

My M20E Lycoming belt has the Gates symbol next to the part number. This belt is loose and the alternator is adjusted to max tightness. The belt appears to be 26" on the inside circumference. Not sure if it has stretched over time or maybe the Plane Power alternator needs a different one.

Texas Aircraft - LSA. Is this what Mooney should do?

Looking at a friend's RV6a yesterday. I want my M20E to have a cowling that is secured with a piano hinge on each seam. Pull out the wires and the cowling pops off. This feature should reduce the parts count as well as make the plane more serviceable. -
Tasteless Joke of the day.

I was thinking if knots, there must be a lot of speed mods on that plane. -

There was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business. When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his cancer stricken father died, he decided he needed to find a wife with whom to share his fortune. One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away."I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her, "But in just a few years my father will die and I will inherit $200 million". "Impressed, the woman asked for his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother. Women are so much better at financial planning than men.
