  1. Here it is installed.
  2. Univair is now making what looks like the Scott 4500...I’m going to contact them next week to see if they will sell the valve head separately. Univair parking brake
  3. Going to the hangar today, can post a pic tonight.
  4. How accurate is the M20C aircraft W&B info that is in ForeFlight?
  5. The antenna I installed to replace the original forward facing "Cat whisker" VOR antenna is the one that fits a Piper mount. It was a perfect bolt-in fit, mounted with the BNC connector on top. But I had to to run a new cable with a BNC connector, as the original antenna had a separate Balun and used screw connectors. The reviews on the antenna complain that the Piper owners had clearance issues with the BNC connector, but on my '64 Mooney there was no issue with clearance- I think I had more than 4 inches of clearance. VOR/GS Antenna
  6. I use it on fuel and brake system pipe thread fittings, but never on anything inside the brake system... As far as fuel valves, I’d use it sparingly, if at all, inside a fuel valve- that stuff will not dissolve. If a clump comes loose, it’s going to travel somewhere!
  7. What kills me is that Whelen is still building the LED replacement units like they are going to be bolted to the top of a bridge or radio antenna- a huge cylinder shape with no thought at all to the 0.3 knots we’re losing due to parasitic drag.
  8. Marauder, that’s the Whelen that I have...there is a way to retrofit an LED without replacing the entire unit? I’d be interested in that. [EDIT] Disregard- I misread your post!
  9. Is this it? LED bulb
  10. Yes, I thought I saw the bulbs posted on this site. I’ll have to look on my computer history at home. I know that I saw a retrofit LED bulb with the mirror back. I’ll post here if I find it.
  11. They’ve got LEDs for that strobe now...correct?
  12. Might also want to flush out your reservoir. I too am rebuilding my parking brake this weekend- and my reservoir was full of black crud in the bottom after 54 years. I’m wondering if it’s from not wiping the filler plug before removing it, or from pressure bleeding the system and sending crud up from the bleeder nipple into the reservoir... I think the latter is more likely.
  13. Thanks guys. Interesting that these would not have a seal there from the factory...
  14. Wondering what you guys use for a door handle seal..? I don’t see a seal in the parts manual. When I took my interior panels off, my door was full of mud wasp nests. Now I see how they were getting into the door!
  15. Thanks for sending a copy of the value guide, Jimmy. An excellent rundown on the early models. I do have one question- there was no mention of additional value for having converted to bladders, or for a recent tank reseal....do either of these two items come into play when you estimate value, or do they really only affect “saleability”?
  16. Hi Jimmy. An updated message sent to you
  17. I agree. My 64 panel is going to be double VOR with DME. I learned that way. Add a tablet with terrain and ADS-B in, and you are light years ahead..not the same as having a Garmin 530 and LPV capability, but thats another $30k I didn’t have to spend on this old airframe.
  18. Does changing to the B hub effectively change the red zone on your tach? My maintenance records show that when the B hub was installed the PO had the tach red zone repainted
  19. Thanks for that information!
  20. I’ve only had old crusty ones be intermittent. They are a simple device and should work properly. So no, they aren’t supposed to be that way. On a side note, are there LEDs available for these ? Perhaps these? Midget flange GE 330 LED
  21. If the fuel selector wasn’t in the floor in front of me, I wouldn’t be installing an inertia reel on the pilot side. I feel less secure repeatedly disconnecting a shoulder belt to access the fuel selector than I do flying with an inertia reel.
  22. Are you talking about the Sky Beacon or the Tail Beacon? At first glance after looking at the mounting template for the Tail Beacon, I am concerned that it is not going to fit into the tail of my '64 D.... the rectangular box behind the "bulb" looks like it's too long/wide to fit into the factory recess in the tail fairing. The template does not give the width dimension for the box aft of the flange. Still waiting to hear back from uAvionix.... Tail Beacon.pdf
  23. So, is this the simpler solution? Are you using a dimmer, or are you finding that these particular bulbs aren’t too bright ? Also, the link above takes you to a different bulb..do you have a link or the part number for the bulb in your picture?
