How critical are GAMI injectors to running LOP? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I appreciate your comments and guidance. Last week, I tried to talk him into putting my plane before Mr Feb and he wouldnt do it. Pissed me off to the point where i have a hanger waiting for my plane at KDAY once im out of his shop. I had thought i might ask him to give me one day a week where id come up too and work with him ALL DAY so that he cant make excuses and forces him to work on my plane at least 8 hrs a week. I dont really have time to take off work a day each week but would do it if i got my plane back earlier. Im going to call him and try to talk him into it tomorrow. I think this gets to a core problem, he just can't keep a schedule. I get it, i used to carry 3 cell phones and owned 2 businesses at the time. I couldn't keep a schedule back then either. But ive grown up and he needs to also. Ive given the mechanic $7500 which covered the annual and the edm 900. I never considered stipulating who owned the JPI but now you make me nervous. Ive assumed it got the info from a nav gps. Thats one of their selling points i heard was it will talk to most brands, unlike big g. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

This video alone is enough to make me want to wait for Dynon. Just hate doing it. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

@Eric W. Gray, how certain are you all of your price point? Im torn between an aspen 2000 and trutrack AP now or waiting for your skyview. Hearing $17amu for an aspen and 5 for the AP, its not a whole lot more than your price *target*. Comments?

Thanks for sharing that. Enjoyed watching it and learned a ton. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Its the mechanic who's holding it all up. The avionics guy has already bench wired all my com and nav stuff. Hes just waiting for a plane to put it all into. Supposesly the mechanic is already booked this month of Feb. Half (actually all) of me wants him to push the Feb guy back until mine is done. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I paid for all the cost of the equopment to the avionics shop. Balance due will be their labor upon completion. Mechanic got $7500 for the engine monitor cost and effectively the annual. Will owe his labor beyond where the plans is at this point Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I've been trying to figure out where I went wrong and I have to agree with you that paying so much upfront was my first mistake. Hoping to find out others so I don't repeat them. Always open to other critical eyes as well. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Big picture its not the end of the world waiting. But honestly having my $60k sitting in his shop hijacked is really pissing me off. Kinda jading the whole ownership process. If he doesnt get started first of March like he said, ill be moving it. Silver lining its sitting in his heated shop, theoritically not having the cam rust apart. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

This kinda answers @Marauder 's question too. There are 2 parties involved in the process here. The mechanic (a&p probably) is at my home field, KSCA, and started doing the annual. His part of the panel upgrade was to cut the new panel for the standard 8 pack on the left and the ipad dock and monitor on the right. Just yesterday he asked me to call Lasar and get the 8 pack left panel from them. From past contractors, that sounds to me like he has bitten off more than he can chew. He was going to be pulling some new cables, installing the engine monitor and reconfiguring the 8 pack. Once that was done, he was going to take the plane to an avionics guy about 15 mins away to do the nav / com upgrades. That guy is a dedicated avionics shop who i have 110% confidence in. I dont yet have my own hanger to pull it into. Im moving it 10 mins away to KDAY once its done but I dont see how I have that option right now. Honestly I feel like im hostage to party 1 here and dont see many options based on the condition of the plane currently.

Maybe I should have explained the context better. We bought 1259x 10/10/17 last year. Ive yet to fly it. Seller flew it to KSCA while my wife and i were in Hawaii. I checked it out when we got back. Plane was out of annual so the annual took the month of October. I decided that avionics from the 60s weren't for me. Commissioned and paid for about 85% of the panel upgrades start of Nov. Mechanic started undoing the panel durring the month of November. And since its been gutted at end of November, not a thing has been done. Nothing. Mechanic's excuses have been many and varried. He had to plow some snow since he is the airport manager. Had to deal with fuel pumps. An owner assisted project got him sick. I get it. Life happens. But what is really bothering me is that he has had at least 2 other planes come and go while mine has sat. And he says February is booked with another job he committed to a year ago. At least he was honest in telling me he wont be touching it until start of March. Im going to wrap up my IR with my instructor there and probably look at moving my plane elsewhere. I just dont appreciate being treated this way. Why doesn't he work on a last in first out basis? Keep most happy and let me boil in frustration? From my perspective, first in first out isnt working. Ironic this is one of the last posts from this discussion. When i commissioned this project, i was lead to believe the end of the year or middle of January i would have my plane ready to go. We're 2 weeks past that now so i talked with the mechanic doing the pannel work. Hes saying end of March before i get my plane out of his shop. What do you do in this situation? Just smile and say ok? 6 months for this just boggles my mind. I cant imagine trying to fly this to another shop at this point. Options? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Wonder if Dynon needs more capital to help in their certification push? My avionics guy said they are hurting since Garmin moved into their uncertified territory. Id be willing to put a few to up to maybe 5k down for a position in line, if the cash would help expedite the process. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Im not waiting that long. But ill wait 2 years or so to see how Dynon fairs in their certification quest. My avionics guy pointed out that while i do have a EDM900, we can always sell it if and any other redundancies if/when i move forward with their skyview. In the mean time, im thinking hard about just a d10a for a bit of flair among the steam Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

I think smart money is to just wait out the next couple years. See what shakes out. No matter what co or product, it going to be getting better for us the consumers. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Which makes me wonder, having adsb in and out already and edm 900, wouldn’t the cost of an aspen 2000 and a trutrac be same or less money and I can play with it a year or two sooner? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This is where Ive ended up. Id hate to put 25 or 30k into an aspen system now only to be dated tech when the Dynon gets approved. So ill just sit on some cash and wait for the chance to spend it with Dynon. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Will dual g5's play nice with my ifd440? Assuming at least one would need to communicate for an Rnav approach for example. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

And frankly the costs on that isnt hateful at all. Maybe that is the easy way to tip toe into the pool Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Panel still looks almost exactly like this. Was going to standardize the 8 pack on the left. But wondering if i might just bite the bullet hard once and be done with my upgrades. Low time pilot just flying for fun. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Okay, let's assume that I'm willing to put the money into either an Aspen 2500 or the new Garmin 500 txi. Which one and why? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Good night. I have to work for a whole day and I miss 14 new posts. What is this forum coming to? Lol Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Yep. First hand. 2nd. 4th hand. Dont care. Just wondering why I would drop big money on glass when i kinda like my steam scan. My buddy is doing commercial training in a rental with an aspen. We both agreed we couldnt see the cost benefit working out for my plane. I was asking if i was missing anything. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
