  1. A quick Google search found a number of options. Only saw one used one, that looked pretty beat up in the pic, but new ones seem to be available.
  2. In addition to Mooney Pros, there is also a list on The Mooney Flyer https://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html On the landing page just start scrolling down. First you'll see Traveling CFIs, but keep going down and you'll see CFIs listed by State.
  3. What are those exposed power wires (Red & Black) down by the peddle? You might have them look at that too. I could easily see myself stretching or moving, especially in the winter with big snow boots, and just ripping those wires out without feeling a thing.
  4. I just recently learned this too. It's a bit kludgy, but it does work. Just wish FF would have created a cleaner way to edit the the Checklists in their Website. Could have been a lot cleaner and then no need to Export/Import.
  5. Yea, sorry I wasn't clear that I meant you can't just plug it in or even just look at the back of the plug. You'd want to trace it back all the way to make sure there weren't any "repairs" made that would be an issue. And as you said, the fuse and gauge of the original installation is key. So personally, it's just not worth using the existing Cig Lighter plug. Just put in the correct plug with the correct wiring and fuse and be done with it. And besides, that leaves the Cig plug for an adapter for iPads, etc.
  6. Not knowing the size or condition of the wiring behind the cigarette lighter plug, then tossing in the risks using a USB adapter, I'd really be hesitant to go that route. If I were going to use a Starlink in my plane, the cost to install a dedicated line with the appropriate circuit breaker would be well worth it for the safety considerations. (IMHO)
  7. If it were only that simple with ALL of my devices!
  8. On both ends. It takes a while for DNS to disseminate to all the various DNS servers. The bigger ones (Google, etc.) get it quicker, then the ones that pick it up from the big DNS servers may take some time to refresh. Then if you're using a local DNS server, it depends upon where you're refreshing from and if there are layers in between. Then on your computers side, you may need to Flush your machines DNS so it doesn't keep trying to go to the old address. PC: Right Click on the Windows icon in the lower left, pick Terminal and type in ipconfig /flushdns <Enter> MAC (a little more complicated): Cmd + Space and type in Terminal > enter sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder <Enter> > put in Admin Password <Enter> (If you're logged in as the Admin, don't remember if you still have to put in the PW.)
  9. I'm trying to remember what, if any, emails I've gotten directly from the site itself. Are these some sort of automated notices or something? And do the emails go through some other service or do you think they are coming directly from mooneyspace.com. I don't see why there would be a Trace or Redirect code in front of of the URL unless some 3rd party is inserting the link. Guess it is possible that the main site that hosts mooneyspace may be acting up again. We've all see the posts from @mooniac58 in the past about issues with the site, so maybe he can shed some light on why you're getting these links. (And I'm curious what the emails are...)
  10. Every email from whom? Sounds like someone is Phishing you and i hope you didn't click on anything in the email. Or are you behind a Corp. Firewall when you get that added url9615? The system could be trying to incorrectly redirect you due to some rule and it is messing up the link.
  11. What browser are you using and what happens when you try to go to the site?
  12. I know someone at my airport that uses it frequently with their VisionJet. So I wouldn't call them "party tricks." I'm sure a BIG factor is how level is the bridge between the ramp and the hangar floor. He has a newer hangar and a bifold door, so no tracks for a rolling door (like I have). So other than if there is ice in front of the hangar, which would affect a lawn tractor or electric golf cart too, I've never seen him have an issue.
  13. Yep, what @EricJ said and why you have the Squelch option on the radio. Adjust the Squelch setting just a touch to get rid of the noise. Then those times you can't hear the ATIS at a distance or whatever, you still have the Squelch option so you can hear everything.
  14. If you were having DNS issues, in the Cmd/Terminal window you might also use the ipconfig /flushdns command to clean out any incorrect addresses that have been pulled down from your ISP.
  15. I'm able to get to the site, but ran a tracert anyway. 1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.4.1 2 9 ms 10 ms 9 ms 100.93.164.66 3 12 ms 9 ms 12 ms po-313-321-rur201.spokane.wa.seattle.comcast.net [24.153.87.49] 4 10 ms 11 ms 12 ms po-2-rur202.spokane.wa.seattle.comcast.net [69.139.160.202] 5 10 ms 12 ms 10 ms po-200-xar02.spokane.wa.seattle.comcast.net [24.124.128.209] 6 26 ms 22 ms 20 ms ae-37-ar01.seattle.wa.seattle.comcast.net [68.86.96.5] 7 24 ms 20 ms 21 ms be-501-arsc1.seattle.wa.seattle.comcast.net [24.124.128.121] 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 22 ms 20 ms 20 ms be-2112-pe12.seattle.wa.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.34.130] 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 41 ms 37 ms 38 ms be2075.ccr21.sfo01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.0.233] 12 41 ms 38 ms 39 ms be3096.ccr81.sjc13.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.40.41] 13 46 ms 48 ms 47 ms be3097.ccr41.lax01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.40.158] 14 57 ms 57 ms 57 ms be2931.ccr31.phx01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.44.85] 15 58 ms 56 ms 56 ms be3407.rcr21.b023003-0.phx01.atlas.cogentco.com [154.54.28.142] 16 58 ms 58 ms 56 ms 38.142.106.98 17 59 ms 57 ms 59 ms e1-1.AZ1-C1-2.503.1.1.0-18.a2webhosting.com [69.48.137.17] 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 64 ms 58 ms 63 ms server.mooneyspace.com [190.92.188.98]
  16. You make it sound like the 650s are failing right and left and I've not heard a word from my old or current avionics shop. How many are you considering "countless" and is the with the current 650 software or are you talking years ago? Oh, and are you talking about the original 650 or the 650Xi?
  17. No clue about these specific bulbs, but often the bayonet mount light bulb have one pin that is slightly larger than the other one. That is possibly the case here, so just take a close look and make sure you're putting it in socket with the correct orientation. Maybe @OSUAV8TER has a better thought.
  18. You can try reaching out to the Mooney Safety Foundation https://mooneysafety.com/ There is a Contact button in the Upper Right of their home page. They use instructors from all over the country for their Pilot Proficiency Programs (PPP), so they may know of instructors in your area. And the PPP is a good training program as a new Mooney owner. You can also check out The Mooney Flyer page http://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html (not sure why they've never switched it to a HTTPS site, but I believe it is safe to visit). If you scroll down you'll find by state CFIs. None that I saw in ID, but there were a few in WA & OR that you may be able to work something out with. And if you're at the point of looking for an F, I have a friend selling his Trophy 212. It is an F with all of the J modifications. Let me know if you want info on it.
  19. Yea, I was sort of being facetious.
  20. Interesting letter. But it is still unclear... If I buy into the "Assurance" Program for $6,000/yr and I need a part that cost $6,000, does Lasar just send it to me? Or do I pay an additional $6K on top of my "Assurance" payments?
  21. I just ran across the below link on FB which takes to a Lasar page to sign up for Mooney Assurance. Thoughts? Bronze = $200/mo Silver = $350/mo Gold = $500/mo 10 year Gold = $25,000 https://www.lasaraviation.com/
  22. I believe all GI275s have the ability to revert to VFR GPS (someone correct me if not, but I don't think it's a model or installation issue). So with the current DB, you have something to help you if your 430 dies. Also, without a current DB, that every time you start up you're going to get a little nagging Message/Error symbol. That's enough of a pain for some people to get the OnePak that includes the 275.
  23. I know the heavy metal does that, but I've never heard of turning on the landing light for Taxi in a Mooney/GA. I was taught back from my very first lesson that the Beacon goes on before engine start to alert people that the prop was about to spin or it may be spinning and they couldn't see it from their angle.
  24. If you're looking for quality work, then it is going to take as long as it takes. A lot of shops, so I'm assuming also paint shops, are having time getting qualified staff. So that may mean it takes longer if the owner isn't going to just hire someone to get the plane pushed out the door. And it sounds like that's really what you want. As far as cost, again, if you find a shop you like, the cost is the cost. And you didn't say what part of the country, so I don't know if my recommendation is going to help or not. And it has been a LOT more than a year. But I took my plane to Prestige Aircraft way up in northern VT at KFSO. I went to them because 10-15 years before I got my plane painted I knew someone that used them and the plane came out looking great. Another 5+ years and someone else I knew went there, and again the plane came out great. 3rd plane came out some time before I went there and yet again, looked great. I think mine came out looking just as good as the ones I had seen over the prior 20 years or so. To me, that's a much better reputation than one plane that came out a year ago. So if you're anywhere close to VT, you might talk to Walt and see if it's a fit for you. http://www.paintaircraft.com/
  25. When I upgraded my panel I put in a GNC355 as my backup GPS and Comm. This way if the GTN dies, I have both GPS Nav and Comms without jumping through any major hoops.
