  1. On too many occasions during practice approaches I have had either loss of signal or loss of glide slope. I have had the radio checked and antenna changed yet every now and then it happens. I'm starting to consider only doing ILS in actual from now on. Bummer sense it wasn't cheap to upgrade to Wass.
  2. Well I'm a 52 year old private pilot with roughly 1500 hours and an instrument rating out in Sacramento. I remember my first introductory flight in a 172 flying left seat about 17 years ago. I looked into chartering a private jet just for the experience. A round trip flight from Sacramento to San Diego was about 20,000 dollars! I'm thinking somebody out there would do introductory flights in a Citation for some amount of money. Don't get me wrong I love my 201 , just love the sound and power of a jet engine!
  3. So is flying Mooney's!
  4. I am a Mooney driver but on my bucket list is flying a light jet. Anyone ever hear of such a thing? Not looking for a type rating or anything, just the experience.
  5. Now this was a first for me. Went to switch tanks today and the handy dandy fuel tank switcher gizmo slipped out of my hands as I got to the off position! I'm surprised how long the engine kept running in the off position. Geeze!
  6. Excellent information!!
  7. Just a follow up. Annual completed and I asked for the compression check to be done a second time by different mechanic. 75,77,77,78 What do you know about that!
  8. So does the prop throw grease or oil or both?
  9. I agree with you there. I'm just thinking my engine was overhauled 2 years ago and has somewhat of a warranty on it. Hate to wait and see and have repairs done on my dime. Love being an airplane owner!
  10. Hahahahah
  11. Yeah I requested a re-test after annual is done and to be by a different tech just to see.
  12. Not that I'm worried about it but after spending 35,000 on this two years ago I'm concerned.
  13. Yes did do the recommended break in. Certainly always finding a little oil on the floor coming out the breather but thought that was normal.
  14. Valves were in great shape. My mechanic boroscoped and mentioned seeing a little oil. I'm used to seeing higher numbers in previous engines like my old 320 E2D which after overhaul were always around 78-79
  15. Engine was hot
  16. Put about 110 hours on it this year. Same shop doing test but different guy. He told me about the way he does it which seems a little different than Iv'e seen in the past. This plane never sits for more than a week. Average flights from one to three hours at a time.
  17. So plane is in for second annual after engine overhaul. Compressions last year 77,77,77,79. This year 70,73,73,75. I have put about 240 hours since overhaul. I'm thinking what the hell. Did a boroscope and found a little bit of oil. Valves were perfect. Oil comsumption totally normal. Never a fouled plug. Thoughts?
  18. Do tell! Where did you get those babies?
  19. It was roughly 68-70 degrees on the ground. Was leaving Salinas for Sacramento. Not completely sure on the outside temp while climbing. Kept focusing on oil temp. Certainly better typically at 500 fpm. I'm just a spaz when it comes to clearing the mountains. Same thing leaving Santa Barbara on a similar day. You at Cameron Park?
  20. That would be from my JPI. I usually climb at 500 pm but I was pretty close to the mountains that I needed to get over. Wasn't that hot out and that's what surprised me. The opening on the cowl isn't that big, so I guess pitching too high doesn't allow much airflow.
  21. Maybe I'm climbing too steep? 26/26 and 1000 per minute. Not a lot of idle time. Engine has about 300 after overhaul. Fresh oil cooler.
  22. Wow I saw 220 on climb out after reaching around 3500'
  23. What kind of oil temps are you guys seeing when taking off from sea level on a day that's roughly 75-80 Fahrenheit? Say you have a 3500' mountain to get over that's maybe 10 miles away. Yeah you could circle up, but just asking.
  24. Wow under 4.00? I've been paying 4.18 at Lincoln for a while but their pump has been down for weeks so I go to Rio Vista for cheap gas and high winds! Lol
