  1. Here is a pic of the restrictor that was plugged.
  2. Been chasing a fuel pressure issue for weeks. Unsteady needle with pressure going up and down. Removed the fuel pressure hose at the back of the gauge. Then removed the restrictor. It was totally plugged with what looks like aluminum. Can't explain how it got there other than I hear of people making a restrictor by filling with some kind of silver stuff and then drilling a small hole. Ran a small drill bit through it and now it's perfect!
  3. That's what I was thinking. Did the best I could do at blowing through the vent with my lungs. Seems pretty open.
  4. Ok so mystery solved. The cap on the rear does unscrew. However you need to push The center shaft down. It raises the cap just enough to see a aluminum pin. Take hacksaw and cut pin. Now you can unscrew and disassemble. Next problem after new o-ring? How to install new pin.
  5. Ok so I bleed the fuel pressure line from firewall to gauge. Better yes- perfect no. Not giving up.
  6. Made half a dozen phone calls today from the company that baught Shaw to bladder mechanics and everybody in between. One guy at Shaw thinks it can't be taken apart to be serviced. Can this be that freaking difficult. Here is a picture of the top. Have a new 50.00 seal coming tomorrow. May just have to bag the inner o-ring
  7. Good point Clarence!
  8. Should you be able to loosen by hand?
  9. Ok so the twist didn't do the job. That sucker is on there! Looks like there is two holes on the bottom of the cap you would put a spanning wrench on to help. I'm sure they sell one for about 1,000 bucks! Ordered the seal today from Spruce at the low low price of 45.00 each!
  10. Thanks I'll give it a twist! Geeze 120.00 bones!
  11. I have a Shaw 457 fuel cap. Trying to replace the inner o-ring. Mine has a cap that I believe covers the nut to take this puppy apart. Can't find any instructions on disassembly. All the photos I've seen does not have this cover. Tried to pry it off but I'm afraid I'm going to break something. Picture attached. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi Mooney Drivers, I have a 77 201 with firewall forward with 30 hours. At higher altitudes I'm seeing my fuel pressure on stock gauge oscillate from 25-21 and fuel flow jump from 10.3 to 9.7-ish. All is good on climb and solid on descent. Altitude wise I'm talking 10-11k. Soon as you hit the boost goes right to 26. Thoughts?
