    I think $270 might be a little too high. I say that because this recognition light in a Mooney is a lot smaller than the lights that have been pictured here. Another aspect is that this will be a very unique light and really only applicable to a Mooney aircraft, so economies of scale say that will drive the price higher. I'm thinking low to mid $200s.

    You will see it on final. That PAR-46 Pro has the optics to project that beam very far. It was designed for jet aircraft that did not want to go to an HID system.

    I'm happy to report that this project has been elevated and is now in development with Whelen. I have committed to buying the first 100 lights in order to meet the needs here for Mooney owners. My question for the forum is what do you think is a fair price per light? $0 :)? Other recognition lights sell for $269.99 each. I will be working on a list for you all to fill out (Name, Model, Model Year, Email address) so that I can keep informal contact for future purchase.

    If you have a flat wingtip type Mooney then the Orion 650 is the direct replacement for your Whelen legacy A650 light.     I have a huge rolodex from Mooney owners here and I’ve committed to buying the first hundred pair of these lights when they go LED. Any opportunity I get to push this light to Whelen, I do it. It will get done. It is on their project list and I am lobbying to move it up in priority.

    Whelen has a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policy (which is why you should add the light to the shopping cart for the quoted price). So between that, margin, and the market, it seems like there is little variability on that particular light. Other lights that's not the case. I try to stay very competitive with my pricing. Take a look at my Orion 500 price and I think I beat AS by like $40.

    They can but it is not built in. I am a Precise Flight dealer and carry their PulseLite 1210 device. There are others that will pulse these too.

    LED technology for aircraft has come a long quite a bit since they were first put into aircraft 10-15 years ago. The first generation LED lights are nothing to write home about.

    There is no Pro taxi light. The taxi light is only available on the PAR-36 Parmetheus Plus. Generally speaking, any LED landing light will have a lens that projects the light pretty far, which results in a narrow pencil like beam. Factor in where they are mounting and the orientation of the installation, they might not make good taxi lights.

    I do not and nobody that I know of does. The LED version is on Whelen’s project list. I ping them every now and then to make sure it is on their radar.
