  1. So awesome to follow the post here, very inspiring! In the beginning I thought you were going over the sierras and rockies and onto chicago, when did you change your mind and why? How is the go pro mounted? suction cup on the tail? upper or lower side? Again great trip and really enjoy following the trip as it unfolds......Safe travels!
  2. Keep us posted…I will be doing mine here shortly…65C…I'm doing my annual now and just have not got to that part of it yet…I'll be looking for Smwash's reply with dimensions… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm starting my first annual on my new to me 65 C…in regards to the AMU's looks like some peeps use hundreds while others use thousands…so since I just bought all new hoses (2 fuel & 2 oil) for less than 1 AMU or I could say for 7 AMU - but since less than 1 AMU sounds better…this would be considered on the "value menu" right? [emoji12] anything less than 1K? Actuall I think anything less than 3 AMU using hundreds is the value menu! Just sayin… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I think we hijacked another thread…[emoji15] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. What is the x20? Is that 20 gallons per hour? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I keep seeing the abbreviation AMU? What is that? In chemistry I remember atomic mass unit… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Sounds like a good one for AOPA to get involved with.
  8. For whatever shop it's about the labor rate…the Mooney I'm told takes about 24 man hours to complete, which is mostly gaining access!! I will experience my first one end of this month so we'll see. I didn't think there was that big of a diff between TG & LASAR in pricing? Did you personally talk to Kyle at LASAR & inquire about an owner assist to try to save some $$? Tough part is it's far away from Bay Area to be driving every morning/night. Wow 1K for a tire change??? That is crazy…just a tire and tube? Painful! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. do you happen to know what the OEM replacement PN is?
  10. I know this post is over 1.5 yrs old………but what was the outcome on the installation and paperwork/certification dilemma?
  11. Oh and on another note…The Runway Cafe in Napa is open and it is awesome! Kinda high end atmosphere with the white table cloths and white linen napkins, but by far one of the best pastrami sandwiches I have had since visiting New York City!! If you get a chance j recommend you check it out! 19 bucks with tip for my sandwich and a water…so it's a $$$ price point, but again it's also Napa… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Well I finally took my wife on her first flight and it was the 16th to Auburn (since AOPA flyin weather was not favorable) anyway the restaurant was great and we happened upon the city unveiling a bronze statue in honor of WWII triple ace local veteran Bud Anderson! WWII vintage planes and vendors setup, It was very nice! Funniest thing she said asked was "How do you know our altitude?" This was due to me reporting my position after takeoff due to a lot of activity in the pattern. & "who are you talking to? Nobody is answering you!" It was a lot of fun! Thinking about heading to Benton tomorrow for lunch! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I think LASAR rents them as well.....talk to Kyle
  14. Well I will unfortunately miss this one, as I'm on vacation during those dates....maybe the next one
  15. Hi Bonal, will you be going? I thought about it, but have not really planned for it or RSVP, etc. Kind of unsure as I'm not sure what to expect, and what I might gain by going.....I know, I know....only one way to find out.....I still need to take wife on first flight, have not been able to yet....not sure if I want her first outing to be all airplane stuff all day long, not sure if she will enjoy it...as of this writing I just don't know if I will make it.....
  16. Hey Cliffy do you have any more info on the event in June? I'm on vacation the 5th -1 4th so hope its after that......
  17. Good to know........Thanks!
  18. Another thought, I don't know what year Mooney you have, but the earlier birds that came with generators and then converted to alternators face an additional challenge in the wiring for noise. The wiring in the earlier Mooneys w/ GEN did not have wiring installed that was well insulated like the Mooneys that came with alternators, and this sometimes induces noise all by itself on the conversion. The non shielded wiring picks up the static and induces it into the systems. Shields and grounds........
  19. FWIW....I shared the link to this thread with Kyle so he could share with the guys in the shop as well
  20. Thanks Mike, I already ordered the Mitchell with custom markings and my hours programmed - the Horizon is very nice but twice the cost, and I already have an engine analyzer installed as well. Thanks for the suggestion...
  21. Clarence - its on order.....
  22. I feel like I have let Kyle down by not doing the same PIREP here as you just did!!! Yes LASAR is awesome! I cannot express how much customer service and attention to deatil goes into even the smallest jobs there. Kyle is a straight shooter, he knows my background and I know his. He appreciates I know what hes talking about and not BSing me, Guys they are a factory authorized Service Center and they are factory trained.....you get what you pay for out there...Mooney just doesnt hand out Authorized Service center signs....he wishes other owners felt the same way as I do and obviously HELITIM does too as noted from this post. Back in Feb they replaced my nose truss, steering horn, all bushings and bolts in all the gears, and ensured the tensions were all correct....this was part of my pre-purchase inspection as the IA who had been maintaining this aircraft the last 12 years told me he doesnt own the tools to do the tension checks......WOW!!! I too a couple of weeeks ago flew in, Kyle marshalled me right up and we went to work on my leaking MAG compass. Him & I did the work, Pual was there to meet me as well and I met the crew on hand, all great guys! I mention to Kyle "Hey I notice on takeoff my tach exceeds redline and I pull it back immediately to 2700" I ask Kyle "prop governor or tach?" he says one way to find out, he hand me an optical reading tach, pushes my plane back out, says get in and take her to power and see what the optical tach reads....I discovered my A/C tach is reading 150 RPM high! Need a new tach! 3hrs later I was outta there and all compass gaskets and diaphram replaced plus new fluid, cleaned lens....and the bill was absolutely reasonable!! Yes LASAR is awesome and the new servive Manager Kyle is awesome! Need to order new tach soon...but I know it reads high, so all good actually
  23. Any chance you can get pics of the new yokes, I am interested in this setup and looks like I need to call Brittan. I am new to the mooney, and pushing and holding that PC button is a PIA. It would be great to be be able to disconnect the system during takeoff and landing especially, its busy enough without worrying to push an additional button when manuevering. I know you can over ride it, but have inside info that causes the boots to stretch and causes premature failure of the boots at the control surfaces.
  24. Good post, keep the info rolling, this is in my future....
  25. so the landing light getting turned on means there is a current draw, so the static stops (or weakens enough to not hear it) due to this electrical loss off the bus. The clock seems to be completely losing power, but usually static is due to bad antenna bonding to the airframe or a loose ground wire somewhere and in this case most likely in the clock circuit. At least thats where I would start.
