  1. Thanks , I will work on it
  2. Hello, This is stupid, and I am the first to admit it. Stupid #1 I have a hard time landing, there I said it . After flying at 170 mph , I am supposed to slow down to 90 mph downwind, 85 base , and final. then I float before I bounce and go around , and then I do it again and land. I use full flaps( both times). I know I need practice, but I am approaching 14 hours in the mooney M20E, I must be doing something wrong. What MPH numbers do you use for downwind , base, final, Are you changing the throttle as you go through these stages or do you use a constant throttle setting. Stupid# 2 As a sight reference; At a 1000 feet pattern altitude , left downwind, where do you put your left wingtip?I put mine on the runway, is that the right place? Stupid #3 Starting cold, I got down well, but today after flying 45 minutes, landing, going to lunch, coming back an hour later, I had a bear of a time starting. I guess I flooded it. What is your choice for hot starts and flooded methods, there are a bunch ? I though it would be a cold start after an hour, but maybe it wasn't . 68 degrees , sitting in the sun on the ramp( and Summer is coming) When do you decide to use a hot start vs a cold? I have the E which is fuel injected . Just to be clear,I am a licensed pilot with about 160 hours in a Grumman AA-5 Traveler, a very different plane, but I could start and land that plane. My next flight will be pattern work and flying the pattern by the numbers . I am just looking for some reference points. Thanks carl
  3. "The MP under RPM is an old wives tail that refuses to die." Oh good. I hope that is an old wifes tailabout turning of the boost pump , cause I forgot to do that today. Sometime I will come to Hagertown . carl
  4. What are you calling those setting; rpm 26 , MP 27 ? or would you say 27 squared? Isnt MP supposed to be less than rpm? I use 25 square and then cruise at 25 rpm and pull the MP back to match up the setting in the manual for desired fuel burn. I lean for 50degres rich of peak. I have never opened my ram air yet.
  5. Non rebreather mask . Saturation greater than 95 %
  6. oK im just confused !!! hank , rod, alex , there is a daugther, and a marauder all mix in . someone said what do you like best about mooneyspace ..... this is it... except where is little timmy ? Im Carl
  7. I see you are in Montreal, not a good place for this . why not try and set a new ground speed record . of course from west to east , winds alot have been 110+ perfect spring weather for records. bon chance. carl
  8. Rob, Is that your 1965 m 20 C , or Hank's 1970 m 20 C? Wow it is beautiful. Is that a Candy Merlot Red ,with metal flake? carl
  9. Ryan, It doesn't matter what state its in to me , I could fly it there and drop it off. carl
  10. I think waxing the wings smooth is misplaced. We should be sanding them a little rough. After watching the video I removed the tie down rings too.

    From the album: 1967 M20 E

Gas cap placard . This will be redone at painting time
  13. rule these out detonation should hava a drop egt pre ignition should have a rise in egt left with broken ring -- perfrom a compression test exhaust gas leak -- look for cracks, brown exhaust gas stains baffling . baffling isn't it?
  14. ha ha, I looked at you panel, we are alot alike, non of that glass panel stuff. I do have an apollo loran which was not original equipment. Its too complicated to use you are welcome to it .
  15. One CHT hotter than the rest. are there EGTs changes? possible causes --- Misplaced broken engine baffles --- broken ring --- exhaust leak hitting CHT probe --- Detonation -- pre-ignition my guess is clogged injector , but im just reading this stuff.
  16. Yes that was the question . Thanks . I don't think it was auto correct , but I'll blame it anyway carl
  17. http://irggroup.com/ has it on there website
  18. This is a 1960(59) beech Bonanza coming up for government auction by the USMS. I need a partner,or partners who is an AP - IA to get this flyble again .
  19. You said , anyone can borrow it. I was thinking...... I'll drop off my plane and you can test it. you get a test plane, I get a reseal . win win I assume you are going into business with this bad boy. carl
  20. Which garmin would you say this is ? How about the fancy artificial horizon and the heading OBS under it . There are two vors indicators. Hmm is this any good? Can the garmin be used with ABS ?
  21. This is a stock picture of a mooney tail with a bendable trim tab. Mine has one too. I can find just as many pictures without trim tabs.
  22. hello , yes I am at Altoona AOO, hanger 18 stop by anytime. When it warms up I plan on being out there more. carl
  23. a forcast for this coming sunday ..... clear 14 winds gusting 44 . maybe thats wrong. 2w2looks scary
  24. Hello, Sunday looked to be a perfect flying day for a trip from Altoona AOO to Clarion AXO for lunch with my son. Clear , temperature around 40 F at noon and warming up. Winds out of the Southwest (230) at about 5 kt with some gusts ( runway 21). A soon as I left the ground it was bumpy and up to 5000 cruise altitude it was still bumpy. My tablet on the copilot seat did not get knocked around, but I though I should stay slower than 140 MPH. Over the ridges there was a 500 fpm updraft and a corresponding downdraft on the other side. I did expected that. I wonder if anyone was flying around here and what your views of the weather were... .( it really wasn't bumpy , you are just a chicken Etc) Or was it winds aloft, or thermals ? Gas was $4.90 at AXO , so I got some (17 gal), added weight didn't make any difference. Carl
  25. The filling pressure of a oxygen tank is in the range of 2200- 2500 psi, but some tanks do have different filling pressures, depending on their material. The working pressure of an oxygen tank should be 50 psi. This should be the max pressure available to power a devise, therefore the working pressure. It is achived usually with one single stage reducing regulator. Your flow limiting devise is the flowmeter, which is a metal needle valve, with this you can stop the flow and hold the 50psi. Beyond this point begins a plastic cannula, simple mask, or rebreather mask hose. You can adjust the flow at the flowmeter, 0.5, 2 , 6 liters per minutes, but you should not have another flow limiting devise beyond this point, since the plastic tubing is meant to be an open ended circuit and not build up any pressure. Splitters , which divide the flow , should be reinforced high pressure hose, and used before any plastic connection is made. You can turn off the flow on high pressure hose , it is designed to hold the 50psi pressure. Also as you gain altitude the ambient pressure decreases on the outside of the nasal cannula tubing, which decreases the internal pressure needed to rupture it. It get easier to explode the higher you go. carl
