John, Didn't see the mygoflight mount on your panel, but happy to have been of help! The MGF mounts are great! http://www.mygoflight.com/ipad-mount-parts/ You mentioned GPSS and I don't see a glass PFD on your panel, which is the way to get the "S" (steering), so curious as to how you got GPS"S" without Aspen, which is the easy way to accomplish this. I too am not an Aspen fan for many reasons, primarily because they sell a product and then send the buyer to Sporty's to purchase some training videos, they don't provide any type of PC simulator, nothing for proficiency, nothing for currency except >>> go fly the airplane to figure out how it all works. Aspen looks good on paper, but in reality there is a complex matrix in the aircraft for utilization and integration to GPS and Autopilot and the average G/A few hours a month of actual IFR doesn't maintain proficiency. Also the aspect ratio is not the best, very narrow and somewhat difficult to read. Did I mention "soft keys" with things buried three levels deep? Garmin at least has PC and iPad simulators, Aspen nothing. Glass is nice, but for the average G/A install, round dials are IMO the way to go. Another consideration is what powers all that glass, an old alternator? No split bus? A failed alternator, battery soon gone dead, and even an internal PFD battery will go dead fast. 30-60 minutes to find an airport and shoot an approach before everything going dark is quite stressful, maybe impossible. Glass in turbine equipment enjoying multiple redundancy is far different that a M20 with 20 year old electrical system. Lots of glass is a heavy draw. Just my observation for the "glass proponents" out there! Happy Flying!

M20M Bravo Engine: Re-Man or New? Good FL Shop?
WorldWiseTrade replied to WorldWiseTrade's topic in Florida Mooney Flyers
Also Lycoming will only do that deal if the engine is less than 20 years old (per Airpower), so 1994 Mooney that is 1st run does not qualify, no matter how little time on the engine. Criteria is no previous overhaul and less than 20 years in service. Happy Flying! -
Thanks for the reply on flying. Would love to go shoot approaches, learn the GTN, and stay current. Possibly next week, after that I'm gone to Asia until January. I'll give you a call.
Cheers!

New airplane coming, no room in the hangar, price reduced well below my cost to $165,000, much less than my cost, still looking for a good home! This "Bravo" is a head turner on the ramp! Beautiful colors, 3 blade prop, always hangared, in great condition. Flies fast, flies high, and sips fuel. Speed brakes, 115 cu. ft. oxygen (recent bottle). Stormscope (slaved) with checklists. Wing fuel gauges. All new avionics, 2 new batteries, 2 new alternators, 2 new mags. Always maintained with 100 hr. inspections. The only thing lacking is an Aspen PFD, which is quick install if you like glass. Personally I like the 6-pack. Aspen would provide for GPSS however, nice feature. Well designed panel with new GTN-750 for GPS and new GNC-255 for ease of use Nav-Com and low power draw. Hard mount for iPad with USB power outlets in panel. Flight Stream to data link GTN and iPad, easy flight plan management. And TKS that can be a life saver! All new components, new mags, new turbo, new alternatorS, new sealed batteries, hoses replaced, tip top shape! Oil analysis always done, compressions strong. Will deliver with new annual. If you want a anti/de-iced Mooney with new avionics and new components, can't go wrong. Attention to details always, well maintained, cleaned & waxed, always hangared, full custom cover for overnights away, fast and beautiful machine! Battery Power -the new Gill sealed battery 7243-14
WorldWiseTrade replied to tls pilot's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
For my Gill experience (Gill G243) all junk within 2 years (Mooney and Bonanza both). I replaced the Gill flooded type with sealed Concord's, big difference in cranking power, immediately noticeable. Concord Rep at Air-Venture had long dissertation on the advantage of the sealed type and indicated that the lead used in them is far superior. They hold a charge much better/longer, also noticeable. If anybody wants 2 Gill G243's, 1 is 2 year old tests @ 60%, the other 1 year old, tests @ 95% (seems good). Come get em, KAPF, best offer of free to a good home. On a battery minder in my hangar. -
Just replaced my flooded Gill G243 batteries with Concord sealed type. If anyone needs a battery, let me know. 1 year old, tests OK, on a battery maintenance device to keep up to snuff. Best offer or free to a good cause. You will need to pick it up, don't think it can be shipped. I have a 2nd one also, but only tests at about 65%.

M20M Bravo Engine: Re-Man or New? Good FL Shop?
WorldWiseTrade replied to WorldWiseTrade's topic in Florida Mooney Flyers
Thanks, thought of that but may want to sell, and seems necessary to have low time engine. I replaced the mags, alternators, and turbo last annual, so all the components are a-ok. Oil analysis is also good, not making metal. Personally I would keep flying it until oil burn, oil analysis, compressions, etc. indicated it was really time. Agree on shops, I never go to those "high overhead" shops with the IA sitting in an office, I find it's always better with a "labor of love" place, hands on mechanic that does a great job and is not in the business of up-selling. Also like to do owner assist annuals, good to get into the nuts and bolts of it, nice to know what's under the hood. Thanks :-) -
One year old Gill G 243 for sale, for trade, or free to a good cause. I decided to go with sealed Concord batteries in my Bravo. Kept on a battery tender when not in use, excellent condition.

94 Mooney TLS Bravo w/TKS Maybe For Sale
WorldWiseTrade replied to WorldWiseTrade's topic in Aircraft Classifieds
Yes, oil analysis good, compressions good, new mags, new alternators (the components usually time out). Personally "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", will go to 2000 TBO (or beyond) easily the way she runs. But I understand, at some point it will be due for a major, that's the scary part, flying with a new unproven engine ;-) -

Latest update on avionics upgrade. Thinking about moving up to Lancair Evolution PT-6, soooooo... thinking about selling my 94 Bravo. Current config is Garmin 530/430 WAAS NOW GTN 750 but as with my airplanes, they are never good enough and I'm always upgrading something, so going back into avionics shop for GNC-255 Nav Com, GTX-330 transponder, GMA-340 Audio marker, GDL-88 data link, Flightstream 210 for iPAd integration, etc. Will be out of avionics shop early September 2015. About 1800 TT AF&E, July annual, new mags and 2 alternators, turbo rebuild. Beautiful paint and colors, 3 blade prop, TKS is invaluable. Avionics install complete, really nice setup! GTN 750, works great for WAAS GPS approaches, GNC 255-A for ILS/VOR simple to use backup when it gets (too) busy in the cockpit. Got about $175K into the plane now. Very happy with the panel and airplane. Sweet machine, always hangared, now back to its snowbird home KAPF. Still looking for an Evolution, still contemplating selling "HK".

Getting up to 1800 hrs. on my 94 Bravo, so time to start thinking about the inevitable. Any suggestions and comments from the experience pool much appreciated. Thanks!

The flap & trim indicators on my Bravo are bad, very dim, seemingly some kind of bubble or de-lamination, and don't look very nice. Does anyone know of a source for replacement parts? Thanks in advance!

Bought a Bravo, no room for two. Always hangared, low time, great bird. 1986 M20K, N252RK, SN 25-1094. Airframe Total Time: 1090. Continental TS10-360-MB1 SMOH: 289 (January 1999, MOH due to oil pressure problem). Looks good, runs great, compressions last anual (Dec/2013): 76, 74, 74, 73, 73,76. Avionics: King Horizontal Situation Indicator, King 297B Vertical Speed & Altitude Indicator, King KNS 80 RNAV, King 196 TSO COM/ 165 TSO NAV-Com, King KLN 90 GPS/ KN 64 DME, King KT 76A Transponder, King KR 87 TSO ADF, KFC 150 Auto Pilot w/ Flight Director, S-TEC Yaw Damper with trim, WX-10A Storm Scope, Hoskins FT 101 Fuel Monitor, Two Place Intercom. Additional Equip:Four Place Oxygen System, Prop De-Ice, Standby Vacuum, DRC Speed Brakes, Dual Alternators, Electric Cowl Flaps and Trim. Always hangared, dry climate bird (KELP most of its life), no damage history. I've traded up to a later model Bravo with TKS, needed the ice protection for New England flying. This is a fantastic bird fast and economical 170KTS/11-12GPH. Paint is nice, no crazing on windows, fresh annual can be done on sale at same time as pre-purchase. It's a bargain, $500K more for something a little newer and no faster. Pop in a GTN and its perfect, cost less than a Porsche and much more fun! Not a distress sale and priced right, well below V-Ref valuation. Serious inquires only please. robert.richard (at) yahoo.com or seven eight six area + 581-7225. Happy Flying!
