  1. I just upgraded my 2007 Mooney Acclaim (with the Garmin G1000) to WAAS by adding a GIA63W and the VNAV MFD . Does any body have any insights, tips, or tricks on using it? So far, I blown away by how good it is but I'd like to learn to use it confidently while in hard IFR
  2. One of my 430 WAAS data cards gave up the ghost this weekend and I need another one. When I last bought a card I remember noting how horribly expensive they were. Before I buy a new one I thought someone who may have upgraded may have one laying around for sale. If so, please message me. Thanks!
  3. Any opinions or comments about an "easy way" into this? Would it be satisfactory to acquire a used GTX330ES (or 330 then pay for the upgrade) and a used 400W/500W/430W/530W? I see that 330's go for 1-2AMU's (depending on ES upgrade) and I have seen 400W's for as low as 3AMU's. I know that the GTX345 has AHRS and Bluetooth, which is nice, but that individual device alone is more expensive than a used 330ES+400W installed. I have an SL30 nav/comm now and could add in a VAL COM2000 to account for the loss of the 300XL's comm feature.
  4. New airplane coming, no room in the hangar, price reduced well below my cost to $165,000, much less than my cost, still looking for a good home! This "Bravo" is a head turner on the ramp! Beautiful colors, 3 blade prop, always hangared, in great condition. Flies fast, flies high, and sips fuel. Speed brakes, 115 cu. ft. oxygen (recent bottle). Stormscope (slaved) with checklists. Wing fuel gauges. All new avionics, 2 new batteries, 2 new alternators, 2 new mags. Always maintained with 100 hr. inspections. The only thing lacking is an Aspen PFD, which is quick install if you like glass. Personally I like the 6-pack. Aspen would provide for GPSS however, nice feature. Well designed panel with new GTN-750 for GPS and new GNC-255 for ease of use Nav-Com and low power draw. Hard mount for iPad with USB power outlets in panel. Flight Stream to data link GTN and iPad, easy flight plan management. And TKS that can be a life saver! All new components, new mags, new turbo, new alternatorS, new sealed batteries, hoses replaced, tip top shape! Oil analysis always done, compressions strong. Will deliver with new annual. If you want a anti/de-iced Mooney with new avionics and new components, can't go wrong. Attention to details always, well maintained, cleaned & waxed, always hangared, full custom cover for overnights away, fast and beautiful machine! Engine Specs:Lycoming TIO-540-AF1B. 1696 TT Since New, 443 Since Top Overhaul. TBO 2.000. Compressions at last Annual: 78-75-76-77-75-78. 5. Selling my D2 Watch. Works perfect. Comes with charger. WAAS GPS, Baro altimeter, ground speed, flight instruments, moving map. Build flight plan on Ipad or Iphone with Garmin Pilot and send via Bluetooth to watch and track the whole flight on your wrist. I'm sure most of you are familiar with most of the features of this watch. $450 new. Selling for $250. Thanks, Joshua
  6. Exemption Available for Part of ADS-B Out Requirements by Matt Thurber - October 20, 2015, 11:18 AM Airlines and general aviation aircraft owners and operators can apply to the FAA for an exemption to part of the ADS-B OUT equipment requirements, which could make meeting the U.S. 2020 ADS-B mandate temporarily simpler. The exemption basically allows use of a less-capable GPS or global navigation satellite system GNSS) sensor (basically non-WAAS) coupled with a rule-compliant ADS-B transponder to meet the ADS-B Out deadline. The exemption requires the upgraded transponder, new wiring to allow installation of the compliant GNSS so it is a simple swap and a plan for how and when the final upgrade will be completed, according to Jens Hennig, v-p of operations at the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. “The operator is also required to qualify its existing GPS to support ADS-B and use the Service Availability Prediction Tool (SAPT) for every flight,” he explained. “Both Boeing and Airbus are behind the curve on having service bulletins for the airlines to install [ADS-B],” said Ric Peri, vice president of government and industry affairs for the Aircraft Electronics Association. “Hence the need for a delay. The delay is only for the position source, not the ADS-B transponder/transmitter.” http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/aerospace/2015-10-20/exemption-available-part-ads-b-out-requirements

  8. I'm looking for (2) used 430 WAAS data cards.
  9. I am looking for a spare card and the Garmin special card reader to update the data set. Do any of you G650 / 750 users still have one I a drawer somewhere? This will let me update the card at home and swap it out when I get to the airport. Thanks, ya'll. I'm just not ready to drop the coin for a G650 yet.
  10. Does anyone know the real story about why Garmin or Mooney (and specifically which company) requires the 150+ Mooneys with G1000 and STec autopilots to convert to the Garmin G700 autopilot before allowing a WAAS upgrade? This is probably a $50,000+problem for what should be a $5,000 problem max. (I have heard actual numbers as high as $70k). STec's 55x captures WAAS from 530 and 430.
