  1. I could think of several gas compressor stations around there. You probably don't want to be making sparks up in the air if they are blowing down a pipeline.
  2. Moots will put the couplers on a frame for you. http://moots.com/our-bike/#options-2/
  3. Who says the FAA has no sense of humor.... http://davesplanet.net/davesplanet/Reggie-Rhodes-FAA-waiver/Reggie-Rhodes-FAA-waiver.htm
  4. Back the to original topic. I would do the deal, maybe at a lower number. You are buying an airframe, if anything else works, it is bonus. So the airframe is going to work as long as there is no corrosion. So you need to know this: 1. Check the wheel wells for corrosion. 2. Inspection of the main spar for corrosion. 3. Inspection of the cromoly tubing for corrosion. Loosen interior panels and bore scope. 4. Sump fuel tanks and ensure there is no particulate matter 5. Do the Mooney SB20-217 rear spar inspection 6. Pull the seat and check the sub spar for corrosion. 7. Check every where for critters. 8. Check tanks for varnish smell and know they are going to need to be cleaned out. 9. AD 2012-03-52 Huck bolts in the rear hinge check. If all those go good, then you bought an airframe. Triflow all moving parts. Blow out the fuel lines till they run clear. buy 5 gallons of varisol. It will be your friend. Replace all hoses and belts. pull plugs and soak cylinders before moving propeller, drain all fluids and replace Slowly go though energizing each circuit. Make sure nothing is smoking before moving on. For the panel it is crazy to put lots of money into it when you can have the same capabilities in hand held devices. Buy several IPads and an ADS B receiver. Get a used King radio to throw in the panel. pull all the old stuff out. New tires and shock discs compound and wax So now you should have a flyable VFR plane for about $20-25K and lots of pride of ownership. Spend a couple grand on a new interior over the next several years.
  5. Looks like the rescuer was flying a Mooney. Nice job.
  6. "Hiding" behind an LLC or corp is not really hiding. Just a couple more searches to get the information. or get fancy with a D&B search. Also if you know the pattern of flights type of plane/destinations and such you can figure it out.
  7. Do I understand you correctly? Are you saying that if a US citizen LEAVES THE USA without a passport there would be no penalty or fine because he has violated no law?. That is my important question that I need answered please. I understand what you say that when the USA citizen returns to the USA he would be delayed if he didn't have proper documentation. It is possible to be against the law, but the law does not specify a penalty for violating the law. Pipeline act of 2001 was written and passed, Companies figured out there was no penalty for not complying. Congress come back and figures out there is penalty to a law they passed and amends it to have a penalty.
  8. I got my butt frisked by the TSA once. That was after the fancy scanner. What we learned about the effectiveness of the TSA is that one guy in LA with the AR-15 if he had not focused on the TSA checkpoint could have gone and hijacked a plane on the ground.
  9. or pee your pants when they won't let you go to the bathroom
  10. Your quotes are messed up.... I did not say that. I was saying to not participate in the interview. You will not beat the ride, but a good lawyer will beat the wrap. All you are betting here is that he does not want to do the paperwork involved in escalating the situation and he was just stopping by the airport to go home earlier. If he does want to do the paperwork you are screwed anyway. Complying got hours of delay, the plane taken apart and paint job scratched in this instance
  11. It is if the handler causes the dog to "hit", which is easy to do.
  12. Response to above seizure of Aircraft by CBP. "Please issue me a receipt for the seizure of the aircraft under code 19 162 or 19 171 " "I will be filing a part 171 with your office to have the property returned" I would think that Rockdoc's plane was actually seized for several hours (that weird traffic stop time frame where you are not under arrest and not free to go) and he was not issued a receipt stating why it was seized.... So the CBP agent did not comply with 19 171.55 It also looks like there was not cause to seize the plane under 162.75.
  13. Flight aware is interesting when you click on the M20 and can see all the Mooneys flying for the day. You can also know where the Texas Governor is flying the king air today
  14. If he flew offshore in the Gulf back from Brownsville, CBP would claim he has crossed the border and "re entered the country". Is the border the shoreline, ADIZ or the 12 or 24 mile claimed US legal boundary, the courts can't figure that one out....
  15. if you have not watched these videos... good information of why you should never talk to the police. My Plan would be: If they bring the cars around the plane and you are in the plane gather documents up before exiting. Have key ready lock plane after exiting. If they meet you on the ramp, keep walking (because you need to pee) to neutral building as if you have never seen that plane before in your life. Present: Pilot certificate, photo ID, medical certificate. Aircraft Registration Any questions past that: "At this time I would like to terminate this interview" "Am I free to go" Only the FAA can ask for the AWC or weight and balance - registration is printed on the side of the plane in big letters. The CBP is not charged with enforcing FARs. All the questions they are asking you are trying to get you off your footing. "At this time I would like to terminate this interview" "Am I free to go"
  16. If you went direct to Kbro to 3r7 then you were probably out in the ADIZ. I would have to guess the entering the country earlier and this event were separate events. You just looked like you were running people or drugs up from the mexican border. You fit the profile. Does not mean that you or your passenger were to be treated poorly or dogs should be let loose on your paint job.
  17. If by chance you are a Protected Class all sorts of other laws will come into play. Another key phrase "At this point in time I would like to terminate this interview" should be utilized. I have wondered if you could use this FAR as long as you are still tying down the plane and locking it up. If they stop you from maintaining the safety of the Aircraft and taking care of your passengers. Call the FBI and have them come down. § 91.11 Prohibition on interference with crewmembers. No person may assault, threaten, intimidate, or interfere with a crewmember in the performance of the crewmember's duties aboard an aircraft being operated.
  18. oh and start talking about the wrong thing on here and know that this board will be monitored also. I used to have the key list of words. Before that guy told us stuff about things. We had a server start sending traffic to a country of former red and a three letter agency let us know.
  19. 14. I then stood by while he emptied my airplane and took out seats and panels searching everywhere. If he in your pilot's opinion made the aircraft unworthy to fly, then you as a pilot/owner have to get it inspected again. That would be your first damages. Call the FSDO and ask them why US government officials were disassembling your plane and if the FSDO had authorized them to. Start asking for Louis E. Weaver's A&P or pilot's certificate since those are the only people who can work on a certified airplane. Then ask why they are not enforcing the FARs. Call the Sargent on duty of the police department and ask how they are going to pay to have your plane repainted. Ask for his email and send him pictures. Get statements from the FBO people that they saw the dogs on the wings. Tell him you have witnesses with statements. Ask to speak to Internal Affairs. Keep escalating it up till you are talking to the chief of police. Then the police commission, then the mayor. Also be mentioning the whole time how the police officer had the dog make a fake hit. All you are trying to do is make it so the Police don't want to work with the CBP. As far as videoing it. There is some rule that you can't video airport security checkpoints, or so a TSA agent informed me... (which is kind of funny since at Denver you could go upstairs and video the checkpoint all you want) since KNEW is not a point of entry, it is questionable if the CBP rules apply there. Since they were trampling your other rights, I am sure they would not hesitate to trample the right to video. I think the key here is they are monitoring all the flights of GA pilots.
  20. Well it is good to know that the government is watching us, because you looked like a drug runner going to all those places :-) It would nice if CBP would work as hard at human trafficking as they do chasing normal citizens. The goal with all the FOI requests and talking to people bosses is to see how much you can return the favor of being hassled. Lawsuit would go no where. You were within his area to chat with you. The FAA and his bosses may want to know that CBP is trying to enforce FAA laws.
  21. Laws enforced by CBP http://www.cbp.gov/trade/rulings/summary-laws-enforced/us-code President has to declare "customs enforcement area" http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/19/1701
  22. I would show the FAR required documents lock the plane and leave. If they had an issue with the AWC then they would need to report that to the FSDO. "Am I free to go?" "What is the charges?" Have your passenger write up their version of what happened before they forget.
  23. I think you will find that is for a "Port of Entry" not any airport. And that is to determine if the person is legally entering the USA, not for a drug search. The drug charges if any would be a state charge.
  24. Also did you witness the dog "hit" It is easy to get a dog to fake "hit" by the handler. They will pull on the leash and say "good boy" or some other command or drop a ball or toy, then the dog will react. If the dog barks, sits or starts scratching on it's own then the handler gives it a toy, then it is a good hit. Where did the dog hit? Where was the dog and handler from, local or CBP? Since nothing was found, if it was local dog and nothing was found get the filed report, and have a conversation with the local PD about how it's dog can hit and nothing was found. Also you need to file a complaint with the FSDO since non A&Ps or pilots were working on a certified airplane.
  25. It would also be interesting to know if you at any point in your flight you came within 100 miles of an international border.... That is the "jurisdiction" of the Border Patrol. Ask for the dispatch log from the local police and the Border Patrol. If they refuse, then freedom of information requests.
