  1. Don't know what that means but it can't be good! How so? Why are they different than other glass panel displays?
  2. As I said before it's probably a well cared for plane. We all do have a right to be wrong and this is not about being wrong. It's about being ignorant calling corrosion propensity in coastal areas an old wive's tale. This is not "abuse" we're talking about. This is corrosion from air born salt particles. So this is a huge dragon to worry about once you're informed.
  3. I'm sure it's a nice well taken care of airplane. However, I wouldn't dismiss propensity to corrosion as an old wive's tale! "Since moisture is a culprit for most common types of corrosion, aircraft based in coastal areas are often in particular danger. Many potential aircraft buyers will shy away from a bird that has spent much time in Florida, along the Gulf Coast or in Pacific Coast areas of the west. Said one aircraft appraiser, “there’s just too much chance that such airplanes are rust buckets.” Recently repainted aircraft offered for sale from such areas are regarded with particular suspicion by knowledgeable buyers because the paint could be covering up serious corrosion." AOPA Pilot Resources
  4. Only cause for hesitation or concern is that lived in Florida all it's life. They say you can take the plane out of Florida but you can't take Florida out of the plane.
  5. From the PTS: "1. Exhibits satisfactory knowledge of the elements related to performance and limitations by explaining the use of charts, tables, and data to determine performance and the adverse effects of exceeding limitations. 2. Computes weight and balance. Determines the computed weight and center of gravity are within the airplane’s operating limitations and if the weight and center of gravity will remain within limits during all phases of flight. 3. Demonstrates use of the appropriate manufacturer’s performance charts, tables, and data." This is part of proper and thorough flight planning. Without it you will not know.
  6. I can't believe this thread I still going! The fact of the matter is that unless one flies aerobatics an aoa is just not needed. Plain and simple. The reason is that in the envelope a ga pilot flies (30 degrees bank or so at most and +/- 10 degrees pitch) airspeed info is most important. The PTS requires a pitch attitude of Vy +10/-5 in a normal takeoff and climb and Vx +10/-5 in short field. Also in an approach no more than 1.3 Vso +10/-5 knots. Learn to control your airspeed!!
  7. I couldn't agree more with PTK. Hit the nail on the head. And for what maybe 5 knots and a couple hundred feet runway? Learn to control your airspeed people!
  8. Christian, words fall short and can't even begin to express my sadness to hear of the sudden demise of your friend. May the love of all those around you, and the memories of all the great times you shared, help you through the days ahead.
  9. All else being equal, are these by definition more efficient plugs, period? and what are there real measurable benefits worth the expense?
  10. Without any scientific evidence from controlled trials in a large amount of similarly run new engines you can make claims all day long. Do you have such evidence to present in support of your claims? You may in fact be understating the magical powers of Camguard!
  11. The original question that has not been answered is this: What difference will Camguard make in a well cared for engine? One that, a. has regular oil changes b. has more frequent oil changes before and after anticipated short duration period of inactivity c. for longer term inactivity is using preservation oil i.e. Aeroshell Fluid 2F. Ed if you'd care to comment?
  12. With all due respect Fantom that wasn't necessary. It is not a sign of weakness to disagree with someone by presenting your opinion in a civilized manner. You gain more respect by engaging the opposing position in a discussion inside the arena. You lose respect when you are unable to do so and the only thing you can do is jump out of bounds as you did and start personal attacks and mud throwing. That is immature and this forum would truly be better without it.
  13. Could you please post some pics? When you say altered to fit what do you mean? How much and where? Is it cutting around the edges or more substantial.
  14. Does anyone have a source for interior side panels? I know of plane plastics but looking for the radiused ones.
