  1. the only problem with the 16 GB is foreflight takes up most of the memory, I have the 16 GB ipad 3 and when ever I need to do an update I have to delete old info before uploading the new. It still works fine but I have to be selective of the Apps I load on it. when i replace it i will get a 32 GB minimum.
  2. Dave, you are probably correct, or they are sitting on the shelf of some maintenance shop. The funny thing is the only logs required are from the latest annual and any STC and 337's that affect the airworthiness of the aircraft. We put a lot of faith in "complete logs" and devalue the aircraft that are missing older logs, when the truth is one aircraft could have complete logs but have poorly or undocumented maintenance and another could be missing logs but have been better maintained. Brian
  3. the original N Number was N7821V, it had a off field landing in 81, looks like the aircraft had fuel contamination.......too much air in the tanks.....then in 82 did a gear up. looks like the previous owner bought it in 2000 and changed the N number some where along the way looks like 2001 time frame. the owner before him may have the missing logs or know where they are.
  4. There is another c listed on mooney space that looks nice. http://mooneyspace.com/topic/11280-1963-m20c-for-sale/
  5. No negative history, for how it's configured it is a fair price range, if I were to sell mine that is where I would list mine......well once it. Gets painted anyway.
  6. checked and it is a KA42 071-1006-11
  7. I think i have a KA 42, let me check the part number
  8. If your running 6 ply on the nose tire you can bump it up to 49, 4 ply is 30. I have 6 ply on the nose and have tried booth and i like 49 for the nose.
  9. another good day spot is Boothbay, we lived right by the river in Bath and on the weekends we would put the boat in the water and go over to boothbay to walk around looking at the shops. the boat ride over was definitely more enjoyable then the drive and probably a lot quicker because of the tourist traffic up RT 1. of course the trip was never complete until we had some homemade ice cream.
  10. I won't discount the possibility of a connection problem, but Bob may be correct, I didn't take a look at the graph when i made my first post but looking at it and the consistency of the peaks it does look like you should take a look at the exhaust valve.
  11. probably a loose connection, had the same thing on mine, re crimped the connector and secured the wire and it was nice and steady again
  12. Has any one used the egview software for their engine monitor? EI sells it for use with there engine monitors, it will also work with JPI, Avidyne and several other monitors. I am considering purchasing it to make reading my downloaded engine data easier. Brian
  13. I got my PPL flying with the Navy flying club out of Brunswick, I was landing on 8000 x 200 runways so landing on big runways wasn't a big deal..........or at least I thought so until I landed a pease in a 152 for the first time. I did a full stop landing and thought wow this runway is not really all that long, but it sure is wide. Ok, so I really did land in the right direction, but it was still wide. Then reset and took back off, as I was climbing out I commented to my instructor that I could land again and still have enough rooms for a safe take off. Since that time I have landed there in my mooney and I highly recommend landing long.....very long if your going to the FBO. Also interaction takeoffs are not a concern. Landing on a runway that size is a must for any pilot. Brian
  14. I lived in Bath and was stationed at Brunswick for yrs, there use to be a place to buy lobster right outside the gate, there are also a couple of places in wiscasset but I'm not sure about transportation out of there. When mike and ann ran the FBO they had a courtesy car. I'm not a lobsta eater so I never tried to buy directly from the docs, but when we had friends in town that wanted lobsta I would get them from Gilmores in down town bath.
  15. Funny this topic should come up, I was thinking the same thing the other day when i went to find the recent threat on the AOA system.
  16. Chris, I think you post just to up your post count!!!
  17. Lewiston is a great airport to go into, but they just shut down their restaurant. one of my last trips up I flew in to Brunswick, it was my first time in there since the base shut down and was really eerie. I was use to all the P-3's on the ramps and the base bustling with activity.
  18. I ran my daughter back home to Maine this morning, made some great time up. Surprisingly by staying low (2.5-3.5k) I made pretty good time on the return trip. Averaged around 190kts GS up and 130kts back.
  19. Yea, That one just caught me, we will see how long until i have it shipped off to get painted, just about everything else is done.
  20. even if it is a group hanger you will appreciate not having to clean off snow and ice in the winter, it also helps keep water out of the fuel tanks. I had my plane on the ramp for a year when i first bought it and it didn't seem too bad, but since then its been in a hanger and i wouldn't go back on the ramp unless i didn't have a choice. too many little conveniences associated with being in a hanger that you don't realize. Brian
  21. careful with just tightening them, if the flare is not seated correctly you will just make it worse, loosen it a turn first, then re tighten it
  22. thanks Ed, good presentation
  23. Stefan, that is your oil return line allowing the oil that pushed up the connecting rods to lubricate the valve train to return to the sump, looks like it might be leaking at the flare.
