DaV8or Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Picked up my plane from annual on Thursday for LASAR and I snapped a couple of pictures of the Franken E I flew in and also the latest project Paul has started, a 201. The 201 is in the process of getting a wing from another plane as well. In Paul's words, it didn't "sit well" with him to have a really nice, complete fuselage with avionics up in the storage hangar. He really thought it ought to be flying, not waiting around to be parted bit by bit. Anyhow, I was thinking that if someone was interested in either an E with speed mods, or a 201 that have been reconditioned by LASAR, now might be a good time to negotiate with them about it before they paint them. I guess when Paul paints them, he just puts some basic white on with no paint booth. Doesn't sound all that great to me. Maybe you can get a little discount and then take it somewhere like Art Craft and get the paint job you really want.

DonMuncy Posted July 21, 2013 Report Posted July 21, 2013 I think most of them charge different for different models. I think the K was about $1700. Remember this is for just the inspection. You will also pay for an oil change, etc. etc. etc., before you get to repairs.
DaV8or Posted July 21, 2013 Author Report Posted July 21, 2013 The basic annual for my F was $1970 at LASAR. IIRC, Top Gun was pretty close to the same amount. So if you got lucky and they found nothing wrong and you didn't want anything addressed yourself, this is what it would cost + oil and filter. I have yet to come anywhere close to spending just this. Next year will won't be any better as I already know I'm in for mag rebuilds and nose gear doughnut replacement at least.
