BaldEagle Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 Hi all, I'm having trouble finding a replacement spinner doubler part no. 940003-501. This is for a 1978 J. It looks like this part was installed after this airplane left production as a result of SB M20-201 2-14-78. If this part is unobtainium... what are my options? Can a doubler be riveted on, or is my only option to use the old part as a template to fabricate a replacement? Quote
IvanP Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 This should not be too hard to fabricate as OPP. Did you check with Frank Craford at Mooney? 1 Quote
kortopates Posted July 12 Report Posted July 12 I am not certain, but i would expect that to be a Hartzell or McCauley part depending on prop and would suggest checking with a prop shop.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

BaldEagle Posted Thursday at 09:27 PM Author Report Posted Thursday at 09:27 PM I wasn't able to find a replacement, but fortunately a local A&P / IA who specializes in these kinds of repairs came to the rescue. I don't know what this will do to the balance / vibration but as I've had some prop work done at the same time I'm going to get it dynamically balanced anyway. Any recommendations for a shop in SoCal / Southwest...? Quote
IvanP Posted Friday at 05:39 AM Report Posted Friday at 05:39 AM Nice fix. The prop balancing is a good idea. Quote
Pinecone Posted Friday at 03:39 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:39 PM It will need a good bit of weight. I would consider doing the same patch on the other side to get them closer. 1 Quote
