Slick Nick Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 I have dual Bendix KX155’s installed in my MSE, KMA24H audio panel. I’ve noticed on my lower unit (COM 2) when the radio gets warm, after having been on for awhile, when I go to transmit, as soon as I key the mic there is a loud “pop” heard in the headsets. I am able to transmit and receive normally. COM 1 does not do this. It’s rather uncomfortable on the ear drums (it is LOUD!) so I’d like to get it fixed. Anyone have any suggestions? I will try swapping the radios around and see if the issue follows. If it remains on COM 2 it may be within the audio panel. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know and I’ll try it out. I hope my explanation is good enough, I can hear myself transmit just fine, it’s just the loud “pop” that lasts a fraction of a second as soon as the PTT is depressed. Quote

I’d verify that it’s transmitting with a radio check with someone. Quote

Went flying today, radio was fine for a couple of hours, until I left the plane parked in the sun, came back, and the popping returned. Seems to be temperature related. Maybe one or more of the caps or transistors inside are going bad. 1 Quote
Brian2034 Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Did you try pulling the radio out of the tray and reinstalling? Usually that’s our first go to if we have radio trouble, it may be just a bad connection. It’s worth the effort and it has resolved radio issues for us in the past. 2 Quote
IvanP Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 KX-200 - slide-in replacement is just a bit north of $5k . Quote

Their website says they are not taking on any more work until their backlog of over 50 units are finished. Busy place like everyone else. Quote
PT20J Posted July 3 Report Posted July 3 Check around. There are probably lots of used ones for sale with all the panel upgrades. May be cheaper to buy a used one. Quote

Slick Nick Posted July 4 Author Report Posted July 4 Went up today on a 3 hour flight. The radio wouldn’t pop. I’m happy that it worked well, but part of me thinks it was just a fluke. I’ll see if I can consistently replicate the issue. Quote
